Ability Inclusion Services We deliver day and residential services to enrich the lives of people with disabilities by providing opportunities for independence and growth

For over 65 years, Ability Inclusion Services has enriched the lives of people with disabilities by providing opportunities for independence and growth. Founded in 1958, the Center initially focused on children but shifted to adults in 1975 when public schools began accommodating all children. In the 1980s and 1990s, services expanded to include residential support to address the needs of individuals that needed support to live on their own and additional day programs we opened so participants could have community and sensory experiences. In the 2000s, transportation services were introduced and have since grown to a fleet of a dozen accessible vehicles. Today our organization is one of Utah’s most vibrant disability communities, providing an invaluable resource for participants and their families.

On Veterans Day we pause to honor the men and women who have served our country. Many veterans return home carrying disabilities that are seen and unseen. Our mission is rooted in creating a world where every person is valued, supported and included, and today that commitment feels especially meaningful.

We extend our gratitude to every veteran who has shown courage in service and resilience in everyday life. Thank you for all you have given.

Happy Halloween! 👻 🎃☠️

We had an absolute blast at this year’s Trunk or Treat! The weather couldn’t have been more perfect for a day filled with costumes, treats, and way too much fun!

Our amazing staff went all out decorating trunks, and the Creative Arts department made special trick-or-treat bags for everyone to use. The smiles, laughter, and excitement from our individuals made it such a heartwarming celebration.

A big thank-you to all the staff and volunteers who made this event so special. It was truly spooktacular!

We loved hosting Salt Lake Community College students for their Fall Alternative Break!

For two days, our center was buzzing with activity as SLCC students joined us to learn, help, and connect with our Community Day Program participants. They made warm apple crisp with our individuals (the whole office smelled amazing!), spent time with our folks, and even did some deep cleaning that helped keep our spaces welcoming and comfortable. They also experienced navigating in a wheelchair, gaining a meaningful perspective on accessibility.

A huge thank you to SLCC for choosing to spend your break with us and for the joy and care you brought to our individuals! We truly enjoyed our visit with you!!!

A Power Play in Art and Community! Two of our talented artists recently painted a stunning canvas of the Maverik Center, which was featured in our annual art show. After an exciting bidding war, the Utah Grizzlies came out on top as they knew exactly where the painting belonged.

Today, the Grizzlies’ Executive Team visited Ability Inclusion Services to meet the artists, hear their stories, and personally bring the painting home to its forever spot at the Maverik Center.

We are so grateful for this partnership and for the way our community celebrates this 'hat trick' with inclusion, creativity, and connection. And this is just the beginning! Stay tuned for more exciting news coming about our partnership with the Utah Grizzlies as they head into their final season!🏒

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our 12th Annual Art Show and painting class!

Our artists were thrilled to share their creativity with you and loved showing off their incredible work. Between the art show, the AIS Boutique, and the painting class, the energy in the room was full of excitement, friendly competition, and community spirit.

Every bid, every purchase, and every show of support helps sustain a program that means so much to our artists. Even if you didn’t take home the piece you were bidding on, your participation still makes a difference, and we are so grateful.

Our Story

The Center was founded in 1958 by a group of parents whose children had disabilities. Since then, the Work Activity Center has assisted adults with severe disabilities to increase their independence, overcome their isolation, and become integral parts of their communities. Throughout the 1970's and 1980's, residential and employment services were added to support a wider variety of the needs of adults with disabilities. Additional day locations were opened in the 1990's so that individuals with very significant disabilities could have community and sensory experiences. Today the Center is one of Utah's most vibrant work and training alternatives, providing an invaluable resource for over 170 participants and their families.
