Thank you to our friends Peer Leadership Team (PLT) for coming in yesterday to learn about our work and connect through a volunteer project!

Together, we made lacing card kits for children receiving family therapy services. These simple tools can support emotional regulation through a calming, repetitive activity, while also building frustration tolerance, confidence, and self-esteem.

There’s no wrong way to lace it! Kids can do it independently or alongside a caregiver 🌈

Huge thank you to this incredible team from Instructure for spending time with us today!

Together, they assembled 50 spring-themed activity kits for the children in our Therapeutic Preschool Program.

These kits will be added to our group curriculum bins and used during specialist-led activities or for independent play, fostering fine motor skill development, imaginative story telling, and early problem solving.

A special thank you to Kara Rogers, Instructure Chief Accounting Officer and our dedicated board member of 10 years, for her continued support and leadership.

This week, we had the joy of welcoming fellows from the University of Utah’s Interprofessional Fellowship in Infant Mental Health (Project IPEP) to The Children’s Center Utah.

During their shared practicum week, graduate students in Social Work and Early Childhood Special Education spent time in our Therapeutic Preschool Program, learning about the interventions we utilize, participating in group observations, and receiving training on trauma-informed practices from our very own, Dr. McCall Lyon.

Thank you to our clinical team who helped facilitate the experience, including Kimberli Berrett, CMHC, Assistant Clinical Director of Outpatient Services, and Sara Johnson, LCSW, Clinical Director of the Therapeutic Preschool Program, and to Alysse Loomis, PhD, LCSW, Assistant Professor and Interim MSW Program Director in the University of Utah’s College of Social Work, for helping connect this learning opportunity.

As continues throughout March, we’re especially grateful to community partners like the University of Utah’s College of Social Work and College of Education who collaborate with us on programs like this—investing in the next generation of providers dedicated to supporting Utah’s children and families.
