A Day in Paris (Right Here in Des Moines!) 🥐✨🇫🇷

Our Lavender Lane recently enjoyed a spectacular French-themed day that transported them straight to the heart of Europe. The journey began with a touch of elegance as our culinary team prepared a classy French bistro luncheon, filling the air with the delicious scents of a Parisian cafe.

The afternoon continued with a cinematic escape as the ladies watched Midnight in Paris, following along as the main character traveled back to the magic of the 1920s each night. To keep the energy high, our pedaling exercise class with Brant took a virtual tour through the breathtaking French countryside, proving that staying active is much more fun with a view!

To wrap up our themed adventure, we took a local joyride through downtown Des Moines. It was the perfect time to reflect on our own city's deep history, from its name—derived from the French Rivière des Moines—to its roots in 17th-century exploration and trade. From the banks of the river to the site of Fort Des Moines, it was a wonderful day of celebrating both global culture and our very own local heritage.

Tacos, Talents, and Tigers! 🐯🏀

We had a full house (and full hearts) recently at Grand Living at Tower Place as we hosted the Valley High School Varsity Girls Basketball team for a pre-tournament dinner! Our residents had a blast getting to know these vibrant young athletes over a crowd-favorite taco and nacho buffet prepared by our talented culinary team.

The competition didn’t stay on the court, though! The players showed off their skills with some hilarious challenges:

☝️ The Longest Spin: Watching who could keep the ball rotating on one finger!
🦆 Rubber Ducky Shoot-off: A quirky twist on their shooting accuracy.
🤔 "Guess the Player": Residents had to match "quirky facts" to the right athlete—we definitely learned some fun secrets!

A massive thank you to Team Patent and former Athletic Director Brad Rose for collaborating with us to bring these two generations together. It was a night of laughter, mentorship, and plenty of Tiger pride.

Our Monarch Lane memory care families gathered for a special "I Love You to Pizzas" meal, proving that nothing brings people together quite like melted cheese and great company. From custom toppings to heartfelt conversations, the day was full of flavor and even more love.

Who says you need sunshine and grass for a perfect picnic? ☀️❄️

Recently, our LUMINATIONS® Memory Care residents traded their coats for "summer vibes" at our indoor winter picnic! It was the perfect way to brighten up a standard chilly day and bring some seasonal joy indoors.

Our incredible culinary team went all out, serving up a classic picnic spread that tasted like a July afternoon. From the first bite to the last shared story, the room was filled with warmth, laughter, and the simple nostalgia of a great meal with friends.

Murder, Mystery, and Matrimony 🕵️‍♂️

The wedding bells weren't exactly ringing as our Forum Theatre transformed into a scene of high-stakes intrigue.

For our 'Til Death Do Us Part Murder Mystery Dinner, we welcomed the talented Murder Mystery Co. for a night of suspense.

While the theme started with sunshine and chirping birds, the mood quickly shifted when a member of the wedding party was "murdered," leaving our residents to crack the case!

Working in table teams, residents channeled their inner detectives to sift through clues and solve the crime. Several of our own neighbors even took the stage, playing key characters and bringing plenty of laughter to the investigation. It was a fantastic evening filled with teamwork, wit, and "whodunnit" drama.

Before the mystery unfolded, our amazing Culinary Team served a delicious feast featuring Almond Crusted Chicken with Lemon Cream Sauce and Pan Seared Salmon with Garlic Butter. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for such a "killer" success!

6 More Weeks of Winter? Not a Problem at Tower Place! ❄️

While Punxsutawney Phil may have predicted a longer winter, the atmosphere inside our LUMINATIONS® Memory Care neighborhood was nothing but bright and heartwarming this Groundhog Day.

We kicked off the celebration with high-energy games led by our Director of Fitness, Jackson, followed by the smooth sounds of live music from Neil Hewitt.

Our residents were treated to world-class cupcakes, handcrafted by our talented confections specialist, Tabby, and the culinary team. Of course, the day wouldn't have been complete without a special appearance from our very own star groundhog, Mari!

Whether the sun is out or the clouds are lingering, we’re keeping the spirit of spring alive right here at home.
