Breaking News:

There are 3 confirmed leprechauns and one loose shamrock creating havoc in the halls of Innovative Radiology. Security has been notified, but honestly, they’re moving faster than we can scan them.

The first leprechaun was caught in the x-ray room insisting we image his pot of gold to “prove its authenticity”. Turns out…it’s radiopaque.

Another one jumped into CT saying he heard we were doing “slices”. Unfortunately, he misunderstood and was extremely disappointed when no pizza appeared.

The third leprechaun tried hiding in Ultrasound, but the cold gel gave him away immediately. His exact quote was “Sweet shamrocks, that’s chilly”.

Meanwhile, there has been a random shamrock floating through the department causing suspicious levels of Irish luck. It drifted through x-ray, spun around the CT gantry like it was on a carnival ride, refused Ultrasound gel, and is currently being evaluated to see if it’s MRI safe.

And over in MRI, all three briefly attempted to hide…until the magnet exposed every buckle, coin, and suspicious piece of “gold” they were carrying.

If you see the 3 leprechauns running through the department, please direct them to Dr. Tentinger’s office immediately! We’re trying to conduct a full St. Patrick’s Day Leprechaun Workup. So far, the results are inconclusive….but morale is high and we’re pretty sure the pot of gold is somewhere near the coffee machine.

“For each petal on the shamrock, This brings a wish your way, Good health, good luck, and happiness, For today and every day”. – Happy St. Patrick’s Day from Innovative Radiology

In recognition of World Kidney Day and National Kidney Month, we’re highlighting the importance of kidney health and the role imaging plays in patient care.

Ultrasound imaging is one of the tools physicians and technologists use to assess kidney structure and help detect abnormalities early. Awareness and early evaluation can make a meaningful difference in long-term health!

Imaging Insight: CT Technology

The technology behind our state of the art CT scanner is truly remarkable. Here are just a few fascinating facts about the equipment that helps our physicians see inside the body with incredible precision:

• CT scans combine multiple X-ray images to create highly detailed 3D images that allow doctors to examine the body from different angles. This helps detect conditions that may not be visible on a regular X-ray.

• The scanner spins at an extraordinary speed. Inside our advanced CT scanner, the imaging components rotate around the patient up to several times per second. In just .275 seconds we are able to capture images of the entire heart.

• Because we have a modern CT scanner, it uses advanced dose-reduction technology to help minimize radiation exposure while still producing high quality images.

• CT scans can detect very small changes inside the body, sometimes as small as a few millimeters.

At Innovative Radiology, we’re proud to offer advanced imaging technology designed to support accurate diagnosis and exceptional patient care.

Trust travels.

We recently cared for a patient who came from out of state for advanced imaging, and described their experience as “A++ from start to finish.”

From the first phone call to final results, our focus is clarity, precision, and thoughtful care at every step.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to be part of your annual screening journey.

Brain Injury Awareness Month • Protect What Matters Most

Your brain is powerful and protecting it matters.

Head injuries can happen in an instant, but many are preventable. Simple precautions can significantly reduce risk:

• Wear a properly fitted helmet for biking, skiing, and contact sports
• Always buckle seat belts
• Use appropriate car seats for children
• Reduce fall risks at home (secure rugs, improve lighting)
• Seek medical evaluation for persistent headaches, dizziness, or confusion after a hit to the head

When head injuries occur, advanced imaging plays a critical role in evaluating internal injury quickly and accurately.

Prevention is powerful. Early evaluation matters. Clarity saves lives.

November was full of connection and celebration!

We recognized our amazing team during Radiologic Technology Week, spent time educating students at Urbandale High School’s CareerCon, and wrapped up with a fun staff painting class. A special shoutout to Yvonne for preparing delicious meals for our team during Rad Tech Week, and to Kara for hosting such a creative and relaxing painting night.

We’re grateful for every moment of teamwork, learning, and support. 🎨✨

As we wrap up Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month, it’s only fitting that on Halloween we celebrate a technology first inspired by bats. 🦇 In 1794, an Italian physiologist discovered how bats navigate in the dark. This research became the foundation of modern ultrasound physics.

Every sonographer plays an important role in the field of imaging. Innovative Radiology would like to honor all Ultrasonographers that work in the field of medicine. Happy Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month from our ultrasound teams at Pella Regional Health Center, Broadlawns Medical Center, Wayne County Hospital, and Innovative Radiology!
