Team member, Lindsay Smith, assisted with a Critical Incident Debriefing last night at Post 9. A Law Enforcement career exposes officers to some of the most horrific sides of society & humanity. These challenging experiences have become a platform to develop robust wellness bureaus, trauma therapists, and crisis interventions to support the individuals who are brave enough to wear the badge.

We are especially praying for the safe return of the nearly 2,000 Iowa National Guard Members currently supporting Operation Inherent Freedom in the Middle East.

Last week, Front Line Therapy staff taught the current Iowa Law Enforcement Academy police recruits mental health and crisis intervention training (CIT).

We were also joined by a panel of CIT officers and co-responder experts from around the metro. Thank you to all of our collaborating partners supporting and preparing the next round of law enforcement officers!

Front Line Therapy has been busy this past week! Summer, Lindsay, and Sheila spent time providing EMDR sessions & teaching on resilience and robust mental wellness at the annual Iowa Peer Support Foundation conference.

Then, Sheila flew out to work the Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) surviving spouses retreat for widows and widowers of law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty.

We are incredibly honored to be trusted to join our heroes on their path of fortitude, wellness and healing. Thank you!

One of our favorite things to do at Front Line Therapy is community education for new police officers! Last month, we taught Crisis Intervention at the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA), and today we had the privilege of presenting on emotional wellness, stress management, and resilience for the recruits at Des Moines Police.
