Life can get really overwhelming, really fast!! Especially when it feels like everything is happening at once or you’re stuck trying to figure out who you are in the middle of the chaos. Whether you’re healing from old wounds, navigating big changes, or just trying to remember that you deserve love and joy, you don’t have to go through it solo.

I’m Sonia, and my goal is to create a space where you can show up exactly as you are!! Messy feelings, big emotions, dark humor and all are welcomed and embraced in my space. I’m laid-back, real, and believe that sometimes laughter is just as important as processing the heavy stuff. Your story matters, and wherever you are in it, I’m here to walk with you as you grow, heal, and rewrite the parts that no longer serve you.

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and mindfulness-based tools to help with anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, and childhood trauma. I also support people navigating stress, self-esteem challenges, and major life transitions. My approach is multicultural, inclusive, and fully LGBTQIA+ affirming — a space where you can feel safe, supported, and genuinely understood!!

If no one has ever taught you what a boundary is… well, you’re NOT alone!🚧💜

Here’s the gist: boundaries are the limits and rules we set for ourselves within relationships. They protect our energy, our values, and our emotional well-being. (Emphasis on “...that we set for OURSELVES”!!!)

Many of us were raised to suppress confidence in our values, mistaking humility for self-doubt. We were taught to question our convictions instead of trusting them. Along the way, someone may have told us that it’s rude, selfish, or even disrespectful to hold firm in our beliefs--especially when faced with differences in age, race, culture, or other factors.

But in reality, setting a boundary is an act of self-respect and it sets the tone for how we allow others to treat us.

Have you ever heard of the boundary sandwich? 🥪

It sounds simple, but setting boundaries, especially for 'people pleasers', can induce feelings of anxiety, self-doubt, and resentment. This is a tool that helps you share hard truths with kindness, making boundaries easier to set and easier to hear.

Here’s how it works:
1️⃣ Start with warmth or validation. Begin with something kind or appreciative — it helps the other person feel safe and seen, while also diffusing tension that may be present!
2️⃣ State your boundary or truth. Be clear, honest, and direct about what you need or what isn’t working, you cushioned the blow, now let them know how they can treat you in order to continue to be part of your life!
3️⃣ Close with care. End on a positive or supportive note to remind them the relationship still matters! Boundaries are meant to keep people close, not push them away!

Another example of a boundary sandwich: “I really value our friendship and love spending time together. I’ve noticed I need more downtime after work, so I might not hang out as often on weeknights. I’m looking forward to our weekend plans though!”

Boundaries don’t have to feel cold or mean, they are meant to strengthen connection when shared with compassion. 💛
