This brief testing procedure is a good indicator as to whether you have an issue that needs addressed further and identify your risk for cardiovascular disease and heart attack. Consider a cardiac calcium scoring exam if you have three or more of the following risk factors:

❤️ Men age 45 or older
❤️ Women age 55 or older, or if you have passed menopause
❤️ Family history of heart disease
❤️ Past or present smoker
❤️ History of high cholesterol, diabetes, or high blood pressure
❤️ Overweight
❤️ Inactive lifestyle

The entire procedure takes about 15 minutes, and your provider will review and share the results of the scan with you. While a high score can’t be lowered, lifestyle changes can help you maintain your score so you don’t progress into dangerous territory.
