Mental Health Tip Friday. After all the activity of the holidays, give yourself a post-holiday pause. Even a few minutes of quiet can help your mind settle and your body relax.

Try sitting with a warm drink, taking a short walk, or simply enjoying a few slow breaths. Small moments of rest can help you ease back into your routine with more calm.

Mental Health Tip Friday. Try the 2 Minute Reset.

Try the 2 Minute Reset. Close your eyes, breathe slowly, and let your shoulders drop. A quick pause can calm your mind during a busy day and help you feel a little more grounded. It is a simple tool you can use anytime you feel tension building.

Mental Health Tip Friday: When to Seek Support

If you notice changes in sleep, appetite, energy, or mood that last longer than two weeks, it may be time to connect with a mental health provider.

Early support can help you feel more grounded and prevent symptoms from getting heavier.

If talking with someone might help, our teams in West Des Moines and Ankeny are here when you are ready.

Holiday expectations can create a lot of pressure, especially when there are traditions, schedules, and family routines to navigate.

One simple mindset shift is to replace “I should” with “I plan to” or “I prefer to.” It takes the weight off and turns the moment into a choice instead of an obligation.

This small change in wording can reduce guilt, lower stress, and help you feel more in control of your decisions during a busy season.

Mental Health Tip Friday

Try a Thought Sorting exercise. When your mind feels crowded, write down everything that’s weighing on you. Then place a check next to the things you can take action on and circle the things that are outside your control.

Focusing your energy on the checked items helps reduce overwhelm and gives your mind a clearer path forward.
