Are you a new mom or mom-to-be experiencing sadness, worry, anxiety, or fear? Having a child can bring up an intense mix of emotions, both positive and negative.
Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs) are the #1 complication of childbirth, affecting 1 in 5 women. These disorders include depression and anxiety during pregnancy and the first year postpartum. Other symptoms can include feelings of anger or irritability, sleep or appetite disturbances, feelings of guilt or shame, loss of interest or joy in things you used to enjoy, lack of interest in the baby, or thoughts of harming yourself or the baby.
PMADs donβt just affect the mother, either. Other family members, such as dads and partners, can experience symptoms, too.
β¨ The good news for you is that help for PMADs is just a call away. We have experienced mental health providers available for scheduling within two weeks!
