Clinical Question: Are vaginal estradiol tablets (Vagifem®) effective for genitourinary syndrome of menopause?

Bottom Line: Vaginal estradiol tablets are likely no better than placebo vaginal gel for reducing "most bothersome symptom scores" (mainly dyspareunia). However, compared to placebo vaginal tablets, they reduce symptoms (example: treatment "success" at 12 months in 86% versus 41% placebo). A non-medicated vaginal gel may be reasonable first-line for dyspareunia.

"Toxins for Health? Botulinum toxin for migraine.

Clinical Question: What is the efficacy of botulinum toxin for migraine prophylaxis?

Bottom Line: Patients with chronic migraine who receive botulinum toxin (example Botox™) have 2 fewer migraine days per month compared to placebo (from 19 days to 11 days with treatment versus 13 days with placebo), with no benefit in episodic migraine. Adverse events include blepharoptosis, muscle weakness, neck/injection site pain and 3% stop treatment due to adverse events."
