If a child is struggling to read, it seems logical that the remedy might be tutoring, or more practice in reading. But for many children, extra practice doesn’t work and can be a source of greater stress. Why? Because reading depends on foundational skills like focus and visual-motor skills. If these foundational skills are not in place, then reading is still difficult and frustrating, even after much practice.
This research showed that primitive reflex integration movements boosted reading scores better than other types of movement intervention.
