Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured firefighter, his family, department members, and all those at the Massachusetts Fire Academy and Department of Fire Services who were affected by today’s events.

This morning, a member of our Crib Support team was seriously injured after a fall at the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy's Stow campus. We are deeply grateful to all the staff who took immediate action to provide medical aid and notified 9-1-1, and to Stow and Sudbury first responders. We ask that you please spare a thought and a prayer for him, his family, and his brother and sister firefighters.

Today, our members remember Worcester Firefighter Christopher Roy. On this day 7 years ago, Chris gave his life fighting a stubborn early morning house fire that had been set hours earlier by a former tenant of the building. Chris is remembered by all that knew him as a wonderful person, firefighter, and an even better father to his young daughter Ava. Chris' sacrifice is one that will not be forgotten.

Today we remember Worcester Firefighter Jon Davies who heroically/tragically lost his life in the line of duty 14 years ago while batting a building fire on Arlington St. We Will Never Forget…

Today we remember the "Worcester 6". These 6 brave men selflessly gave their lives in the line of duty 26 years ago today. Two members initially became lost while searching for two civilians believed to have been in the building. Their four brothers then also subsequently perished while attempting to find them. It was later found that the civilians had exited the building prior to their arrival. The sacrifice of these men will never be forgotten and the advancements made in the fire service following this fire have undoubtedly saved the lives of countless other firefighters and civilians. Jerry, Joe, Jay, Tim, Tom, and Paul… Remember their names… We will NEVER forget...

Today the members of Local 3070 remember Firefighter Martin “Marty” McNamara of the Lancaster Massachusetts Fire Department. On this day 22 years ago, Marty made the ultimate sacrifice while carrying out his duties battling a building fire. Our thoughts are with Marty’s family, friends, and department today on this somber anniversary. We will never forget…

Today we remember Lieutenant Jason Menard of the Worcester Fire Department. Lt. Menard selflessly gave his life 6 years ago in the line of duty while searching for a mother and child believed to be lost/trapped in a burning building. In his last minutes, Lt. Menard did everything possible to make sure his crew made it out of that same building, ultimately sacrificing himself so that his crew may live. Our thoughts are with Lt. Menard’s family, friends, and our brothers and sisters of Local 1009 today. Lt. Menard, we will NEVER forget…
