Central Ohio Pediatric Behavioral Health

Central Ohio Pediatric Behavioral Health Our Mission is to improve mental health and wellbeing by empowering children and families to be the best versions of themselves.

Central Ohio Pediatric Behavioral Health is a child, adolescent, young adult, and family therapy practice in Westerville, Ohio. We offer individual, parent-only, and family therapy sessions. Our team of three clinicians at Central Ohio Pediatric Behavioral Health is committed to facilitating positive transformation in the lives of individuals and families. Central Ohio Pediatric Behavioral Health is dedicated to the mission of enhancing the well-being of children and families throughout Central Ohio. Our primary objective is to expand the accessibility of high-quality, evidence-informed treatment. One of the things we enjoy most about working with children is that they are continually changing and growing. Children have an amazing capacity to learn new skills and adapt to challenges they face. By capitalizing on these innate abilities, we can remove barriers in their lives and empower them to grow and develop in the best way they can. We understand the difficulty parents can face when witnessing their children deal with daily stressors and mental health concerns, perhaps feeling unsure on how to provide effective support. Together, we will work to provide your children with improved coping strategies, instill healthy habits, and guide them towards overall better health and well-being. We collaborate closely with parents to identify practical solutions to the challenges their families may encounter, aiming to empower them with confidence and self-assurance in addressing challenges.

Our favorite Shaun Ditty is here with 3 simple tips for maintaining consistency over winter break, helping kids feel grounded while still enjoying the season. A little structure, clear expectations, and flexibility can go a long way in supporting emotional regulation—especially for kids who thrive on predictability.

Remember: consistency doesn’t mean perfection. It means creating a steady foundation your child can return to, even when schedules change.

Here are 3 questions you can ask your child to help differentiate between bullying and mean behavior.
“How many times has this or something like this happened?” This question helps identify if the behavior is a repeated, ongoing issue (indicative of bullying) or a singular occurrence (more likely mean behavior).
“Tell me how you would feel and what you would do if this person told you to do something you didn’t want to do. Do you think you could or would say no to them. If so, what would you say? If not, tell me why?” Understanding power dynamics is key to identifying bullying. It could be physical power, social status, or even psychological control.
“Have you ever noticed them treating other people this way?” Bullying often involves the targeted individual being singled out repeatedly, whereas mean behavior might not be as specific and can be directed at anyone.
If you notice that your family or child could use some support navigating today's social world and school dynamics, give us a call. We can help.
