Dr. Sara Huff is a board-certified dermatologist with expertise in general, medical, and surgical dermatology. She is dedicated to providing comprehensive, evidence-based care for patients of all ages, with a focus on skin health, disease prevention, and personalized treatment plans.

Dr. Huff earned her undergraduate degree from Capital University before completing her medical education at the University of Toledo College of Medicine. She went on to complete her dermatology residency at The Ohio State University, where she received extensive training in diagnosing and treating a wide range of skin conditions.

Deeply committed to serving her community, Dr. Huff values building long-term relationships with her patients and empowering them to take an active role in their dermatologic care. I feel like I have recommended this so often lately. It definitely is common to have some more generalized itching from time to time or as one ages. However, if you have persistent itch make sure you tell your doctor in case there is an underlying disorder to blame.

Just had a patient ask if dermaplaning at home would result in dark, coarse hairs growing back in. The answer is NO luckily! As women have more birthdays they tend to accumulate darker hairs around their upper lip and chin. This can result in embarrassment or harsh removal techniques. I have seen many patients pluck on a daily basis and cause so much trauma to the surrounding skin that it looks bumpy and red which could almost be worse than the hairs themselves. This hairloss medication seems to make many of my patients hesitate. Here are some facts and some reasons people may hesitate….
1. I don’t want to add it to my daily schedule. I will forget or don’t have time.
2. I hear it makes more hair fall out first.
3. Do I have to use this for the rest of my life?

So, we do so many things like clip our seatbelt every time we get in the car. We brush our teeth 2+ times a day. Yes, we are all busy but it should just take 30 seconds to do this. It doesn’t take long. I like the solution because it just touches the scalp and doesn’t coat hair.
Yes, it may cause a few hairs to fall out at first but that’s to get a new hair to grow. It pushes out hairs that were already going to be shedding. But in the long run, this medication tells more of your hairs to be in the growing phase, Anagen, than the falling out phase, telogen.
Yes, you could use this medication for the rest of your life but you will also likely brush your hair, floss your teeth, and take time to eat for the rest of your life. It’s just a matter of choice, if the hairloss if something you are willing to put in 30 seconds a day for. You can always stop but you will lose some progress, not go bald but have thinning like you were starting to have to begin with. All men and women get thinner hair with each passing decade. Some may notice thinning in their 20’s while others not so much until 60’s. See your dermatologist to see if you have androgenetic alopecia or another form of alopecia and need different treatment.

Hyaluronic Acid is in so many serums these days. It doesn’t need to be from an extremely expensive brand but can be helpful adding additional moisture to your skin! Collagen is made of hyaluronic acid and it helps your skin retain moisture/water. I always tell my microneedling patients to use this post-procedure but it can be used daily even without procedures/recovery. .
