Body Aware Bowenwork Body Aware offers Bowenwork sessions as well as massage. Additionally, Introduction to Bowenwork training, Qi Gong and workshops are available.

I attended Chesapeake College from 2007-2008 for massage therapy. While my education includes Swedish, Deep Tissue, Myofascial Release, intro to Craniosacral, and intro to Lymphatic massage, I primarily focuses on Bowenwork in my practice. I was introduced to Bowenwork during her training at Chesapeake College through a demonstration of the gentle Australian bodywork. After having torn a muscle in my low back in 2006, I had been living with mild to moderate discomfort for about two and a half year, and had difficulty staying in any position for more than a few minutes at a time. Following a brief demonstration by the Bowenwork practitioner who had come to my school, I stood up without back pain, and remained pain free for months following. I spent the next year taking the Bowenwork training through the American Bowen Academy. I am an Associate Instructor, and on the path to becoming a full Bowenwork Instructor. I have also taken scar tissue release coursework associated with Tom Bowen's technique, MSRT.

The Vagus nerve — known as the wandering nerve — travels from the brain through the body, connecting with the heart, lungs, gut, and more.

Because it touches so many systems, what happens in the Vagus nerve can impact the whole body.

When the Vagus nerve isn’t working well, it can contribute to issues like poor digestion, sleep disorders, hormonal imbalances, difficulty regulating heart rate, challenges with stress and mood, and more.

Therapies like Bowen Therapy may support and stimulate the Vagus nerve for a healthier, more balanced you.

When you care for your Vagus nerve, you support your whole self.

I had an AMAZING time at the Facial Research Congress in New Orleans this past week.

I heard from some of the top researchers in fascial studies including Robert Schleip, Carla and Antonio Stecco, John Sharkey, Stephen Porges, Gil Headley, and so many more.

I learned about modalities that are being used to help people take back control of their bodies and lives.

I met inspiring academics and clinicians from around the world. Professors, doctors, physical therapists, movement specialists, sports medicine clinicians, and body workers coming together with a shared passion for fascia.

The Facial Research Society is committed to increasing awareness of fascia's importance in body function, moving forward research, and supporting the ways in which clinicians improve quality of life for their patients and clients.

Lastly, I connected with one of my favorite Bowenwork instructors, Sandra Gustafson, whomever I've followed since my introduction to the modality more than 15 years ago. She, in turn, introduced me to Chris Reed, part of Bowen Therapist Support Network and prior president of the Australian Bowenwork Association. I cannot wait to collaborate with these two and see them again at the next Fascia Research Congress in 2028!!
