n honor of Black Maternal Health Week, we're sharing the stats about Black maternal mental health and honoring the strength of Black moms and birthing people. These stats are sobering: Black women are two times as likely as white women to experience perinatal mental health disorders but half as likely to receive care.

These disparities are rooted in systemic barriers, not individual failure. When we prioritize diversity in care teams, create culturally competent social support, and acknowledge the role of systemic and interpersonal racism, we can make a difference for Black parents and parents of color.

You are not alone. You are not to blame. With help, you WILL be well 💙

If you need help or support:
🔷 Call or text the Postpartum Support International HelpLine at 800-944-4773. You never need a diagnosis to ask for help.
🔷 Call or text the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline at 1-833-852-6262
🔷 In a crisis situation, call or text the National Su***de & Crisis Lifeline at 988.

Honoring Black Maternal Health Week💜

Every mother deserves to be heard, respected, and supported throughout her pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum journey. Yet too many Black mothers continue to face disparities in maternal health outcomes.

This week, LWC stands in solidarity to uplift Black mothers, amplify their voices, and advocate for equitable, compassionate maternal care for all. 🤎

Healthy mothers. Healthy families. Healthy communities.

Sometimes people want to show up for someone who is grieving, but they freeze because they are afraid of saying the wrong thing. The truth is, support does not have to be perfect to be meaningful.

A simple check-in with no pressure can go a long way. Offering one specific, manageable form of help can feel more supportive than saying, “Let me know if you need anything.”

Grief can make it hard to respond, decide, or ask for help. Gentle, low-pressure messages remind someone they are not alone, while still giving them space.

Save this for later, and share it with someone who wants to support a grieving friend but does not know what to say.

Today is World Mental Health Day! Observed every year on October 10, World Mental Health Day seeks to raise awareness of mental health issues and highlights efforts to support mental health. Acknowledging the state of one’s mental health issues is important, and so is being able to seek help when you’re struggling.
