Today we had the pleasure of welcoming the next generation into our offices for Take Your Children to Work Day!

Across our Springfield, Morristown, Clifton, and Westfield locations, our team gave children a behind-the-scenes look at what we do and explaining in simple terms how we care for our patients every step of the way. From the front desk experience, to different business office functions, to working alongside our medical assistants, learning about vascular screenings, and seeing how our physicians care for patients, and how each role plays an important part in delivering quality care.

It was a great reminder that healthcare is truly a team effort, and every role matters.

A special thank you to Lisa Golebieski, our HR Manager, for organizing such a meaningful and inspiring day!

WHAT'S THE PROCEDURE?
Understanding Stroke Prevention Starts with Your Arteries

Plaque buildup in the carotid arteries—the vessels that supply blood to your brain—can increase your risk of stroke. In some cases, this buildup becomes significant enough that treatment is needed to restore healthy blood flow.

One option is a procedure called carotid endarterectomy (CEA), where plaque is carefully removed from the artery to reduce stroke risk. But it’s important to know—this is just one of several approaches.

Many patients are effectively managed with:
✔️ Medication (like statins and aspirin)
✔️ Lifestyle changes (smoking cessation, diet, exercise)
✔️ Minimally invasive procedures, when appropriate

The right treatment depends on your symptoms, the degree of narrowing, and your overall health.

American Diabetes Day: What Does It Have to Do with Your Vascular Health?

More than 40 million Americans are living with diabetes—and millions more don’t even know they have it.

Diabetes doesn’t just affect blood sugar.
It directly impacts your blood vessels, increasing the risk of:

• Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD)
• Stroke
• Heart disease
• Poor circulation in the legs and feet

In fact, 1 in 3 people over 50 with diabetes may develop PAD—often without symptoms.

The challenge? Early signs can be subtle:

• Leg fatigue or cramping when walking
• Swelling in the lower legs
• Slow-healing wounds
• Numbness or tingling in the feet
• Changes in skin color or temperature

Many people dismiss these as “just getting older.” They’re not.

Know your risk in 60 seconds.
Take the American Diabetes Association’s quick risk test:

At The Cardiovascular Care Group, we see every day how early detection can prevent serious vascular complications.

Don’t wait for symptoms to get worse.
Understanding your risk is the first step toward protecting your circulation—and your long-term health.
