Our first Befriending Your Body Program has come to a close.

Which means I am gearing up for our next session, starting in January.

This program is based on Dr. Ann Saffi Biasetti’s beautiful and powerful book, Befriending Your Body.

It’s not therapy, but rather an educational and experiential space for those who have struggled with

*Body Image
*Disordered Eating Behaviors
*Food Noise
*Yo-Yo Dieting
*Emotional Eating
* Other General Food Challenges

and are now ready to deepen their connection to their bodies through somatic and mindfulness practices, in a supportive group environment.

There aren't enough words to describe the impact and depth this program provides.

It can seem helpful to have the lists and what might feel like the 'right answers'. 👍

But if there are right answers, then it might feel if you aren't doing them that means you are wrong. Which can lead to shame and guilt and internal bullying and all the things that really don't help your healing journey at all. 👎

Of course, I still offer clients suggestions of what to eat and food swaps and we work on meal plans together and ways to save time. But that's in between getting down to what is really going on in a client's life and what their struggles are and supporting them where they're at.

Sometimes real life is scary.

Maybe you read these haunting situations as just healthy habits.

That depends on a few things.

1. Does this habit control your behavior and give you anxiety when you aren't doing them?

2. Do you feel out of control when you aren't following a strict plan?

3. Do you think your worth is based on the size of your body or the number on a scale?

If you answered YES to any of those questions, then you might have some disordered thoughts about food and nutrition and your body. And honestly, that's more the norm than it's not.

Many disordered eating patterns are praised in today's culture.

The difference between eating healthfully and disordered eating comes down to the intention. What makes you feel free and good vs restricted and limited.

Food shouldn't make you feel bad about yourself, it's meant to nourish and nurture your life. You were not meant to live to control how you eat.

Why My Own Business

I was/am a busy working mom. Even as a dietitian, knowing all I know about food and cooking I struggled to ‘make it happen’ for my family. I heard that a lot from other parents too. The struggle of figuring out their own health needs and getting their kids to eat or finding time to get a meal on the table, or feeling guilty about what foods they’re purchasing. When I left my full time career I knew I wanted to help these women and families. Healthy eating shouldn’t bring stress and guilt and shame. There are so many things to worry about raising kids, how you feed them should be lower on the totem pole. So I set out to try and make healthy eating attainable.
