It has been a wild ride since Christmas Eve! Many, many, many hours spent supporting 3(🫣!!!) different families as they welcomed their babies🩷🩷🩷 Some highlights: a first time mama who labored with beautiful support from her husband and her own mama. Her labor was long and hard but once it shifted into gear her baby was born in just a handful of pushes! Another family whose baby let us know they needed to move from the home to the hospital and landing with a hospital team who was patient and wildly supportive. This family moved through all of the twists and turns of this labor with so much love, grace, and gentleness. I was constantly in awe of them through it all. And finally a mama who welcomed her 2nd baby with a labor very similar to her first-her support team included her own mama who flew in from across the ocean, her husband who spent many hours setting up the most magical birth space, his parents who loved on their big kid so mama could focus on her work, and her doula from her first birth who has since become family to her, her sweet babe was born en caul and received into her grandmothers hands🩷 I am WIPED. And deliriously grateful for this magical work I get to do. Thanks to .e.davis.cpm for taking all my calls and texts and coming to support me and these families when needed🩷 And all my thanks and love to my own family who gave up their Christmas and have been holding down the fort at home. Community midwifery requires a true village that is based in deep trust and understanding and I am endlessly humbled by my own little village🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷
