If your thoughts stimulate a visceral/physiological response, best to focus in on your body. Ask yourself, "where in my body am I feeling tension or discomfort," then work on regulating/calming your physiological response through strategies such as deep breathing, mindfulness/grounding exercises, movement, stretching, etc. Once your body feels safe and calm, only then can one really tap into shifting their thoughts and sometimes false/protective thinking. Remember to be patient with yourself as ours thoughts do not only impact our brain, but our entire body.

๐ŸŒŸThe New Years begins tomorrow, why not start your new year with a focus on YOU!๐ŸŒŸ

I'm a mental health therapist (an LICSW) and a Reiki practitioner with a private practice in Holliston, MA and I have a couple morning/ early afternoon weekday openings.
I work with Moms (expecting/postpartum moms to moms with adult children), postpartum partners, college age individuals and parents. I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, major life changes, stress and parenting struggles.
I strongly believe therapy is not "one sizes fits all." I work to meet each individual client where they are in their lives and I use humor when appropriate to help clients relax and feel more at ease during stressful times. In addition, I understand the importance of the client/therapist relationship and focus on creating a calm, open and safe environment for my clients to connect and feel comfortable with processing challenging emotions and thoughts.
I work with clients both virtually and in-person and I take a client-centered, strength-based approach using modalities such as mindfulness, psychodynamic therapy and talk therapy. I'm currently working towards receiving my certification in perinatal mental health and I'm IFS informed.
