The East End Threshold Singers share the gift of song with patients and families at the Kanas Center for Hospice Care

This devoted group of volunteers brings gentle harmonies, lullabies, and chants to those at the threshold of life—offering comfort, presence, and peace when it’s needed most.

In addition to bedside and common area singing, they also lend their voices to our Tree of Lights and Rock Garden Memorial Services—helping create meaningful moments of remembrance and reflection for loved ones.

Families say their music provides profound calm in life’s most tender moments. We are deeply grateful for the solace and dignity they help create each day. Threshold Choir

Exciting news!

East End Hospice’s Camp Good Grief has joined the East End Fund for Children! The team from Citarella Westhampton joined Camp Good Grief Director Angela Byrns and youth volunteer Amanda Michne to learn more about CGG. Their visit comes as they prepare for the East End Fund for Children's’ sixth season.

As a new member of Citarella’s East End Fund for Children, Camp Good Grief joins seven other local nonprofit partners working to support more than 3,000 children and families across the East End.

When you purchase a canvas tote bag at any Citarella location or “round-up” your order, 100% of proceeds will directly benefit the East End Fund for Kids and its partner organizations.

10,000 Hours of Compassion: The Power of Our Volunteers

In honor of National Volunteer Month, East End Hospice pauses to recognize the incredible people behind our mission.

Our volunteers offer something truly priceless—their presence. They sit beside patients, hold hands, listen to stories, and bring comfort.

For caregivers and families, they are a source of relief, understanding, and compassion. Even after a loss, they continue to show up—making bereavement calls that remind grieving families they are not alone, that someone still cares, that their loved one is remembered.

Our volunteers give more than 10,000 hours to others each year. Nearly 2,000 patient visits become moments of connection, dignity, and peace—moments that are never forgotten. Their impact reaches far beyond the bedside, touching lives at the Zinberg Family Bereavement Center, Camp Good Grief, our thrift shop, and throughout our community. Wherever they serve, they bring kindness, warmth, and hope.

To our volunteers—thank you for showing up, for caring deeply, and for reminding us all of the power of human connection. What you give cannot be measured, only felt.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our National Healthcare Decisions Day program on Five Wishes at Rogers Memorial Library.

We’re especially grateful to Memorial Library for hosting this important program. Cathlin Brown Wolanske, East End Hospice Volunteer and End-of-Life Doula, and Jackie Diedrich, East End Hospice Access Nurse, led a thoughtful and informative conversation about advance care planning.

Attendees learned how the Five Wishes document can help express personal values and guide future care decisions, and took home free copies to begin their own planning.

Planning ahead is an act of care—for ourselves and for those we love. Please be on the lookout for future programs, or contact us if your organization would like to partner for a similar event.

Today is National EMT and Paramedic Appreciation Day, and we extend our gratitude to our partners and to all emergency responders—on this day and always. 🚑💙

Just recently, Suffolk County Community College paramedic students completed a meaningful hospice clinical rotation at East End Hospice’s Kanas Center for Hospice Care—New York State’s first program of its kind for EMS students.

This hands-on experience in end-of-life care, patient advocacy, and family support helps prepare future paramedics for the moments that matter most.

Thank you to Matt Zukosky and Suffolk County Community College for this very important partnership.

A simple phone call can mean everything. 💙

Each month, our bereavement volunteers reach out to families who have experienced loss—offering not just a check-in, but a compassionate space to share, reflect, and feel heard. These heartfelt conversations remind people they are not alone in their grief, even months after losing a loved one.

We are deeply grateful for the dedication, empathy, and quiet strength of our volunteers, who make this meaningful connection possible every day. Their kindness extends care far beyond our walls and into the lives of those who need it most.
