Thanks to the generous donations of friends & family, the is team raised $3701 to go toward pancreatic cancer research. Thank you to all who supported Team Siva Balakrishnan - your contributions have tremendous impact in furthering our understanding, detection, and management of pancreatic cancer. To the amazing humans who are my teammates - I cannot thank you enough for offering your time, energy, and love to this special cause. It was a beautiful day dedicated to making a difference and coming together as a community. My heart is full.

A friend once told me that there are rare moments in life that mark a before and an after, a seminal shift after which life and the world are forever altered. This day was, without a doubt, one of those moments. I miss our conversations and phone calls, watching tennis, reading together, and perhaps most of all simply sitting in silence together. As time goes on, I am humbled by how many seeds you silently yet knowingly planted to grow over time and shape me as a person in all aspects of life. We don’t get to choose our parents buttons I am forever grateful to be able to call you my Dad. May you continue to Rest In Peace.

Gearing up to run in the LA Cancer Challenge in memory of my father Dr Siva Balakrishnan for the second year in a row to raise money for pancreatic cancer research through the . This year I have a started a team in my Dad's name and welcome anyone to join me and/or make a donation. Pancreatic cancer is one of the most aggressive cancers that patients can face. All too often, it is diagnosed at an end-stage and the only therapeutic option is palliative care. I have made it a lifelong mission to support and advocate for this research, in honor my father's journey. It is my sincerest wish that, one day, patients and families affected by this cancer can have more hope and treatment options. To join/donate, click link in bio.

This weekend l, I was humbled to be selected by the Ventura County Medical Research Foundation to receive the 2022 Leo Tauber, MD & David Fainer, MD Award for Vision Care Specialist of the Year. I feel blessed to have been able to share this with my family, including my beautiful Mom and .la . It was all the more special to be handed the award by a dear friend & colleague and surprised by my partner in crime . I am honored to be on this wild journey with both of you. And, of course, thank you to my team for your support and tireless hard work everyday to make a difference for each and every one of our patients.

One important person, unfortunately, was missing on this day but I believe he was watching from above. He continues to be the ideal to which I aspire both as a human being and as a physician. This one is for you, Daddy. 🖤
