Key Ministry

Key Ministry Key Ministry promotes meaningful connection between churches and families of kids with disabilities

We embrace our role as leaders among like-minded individuals, organizations and congregations in the movement to welcome and include persons with disabilities and their families in the life of the local church. Key Ministry serves a unique role in connecting churches with families of children with “hidden disabilities”… mental illness, trauma and developmental disabilities. Operating Principles...

We provide as many products and services as possible free of charge. Ministry is done best by a team…no person or organization gets all the gifts! We “expand the circle” of the disability ministry movement by including persons inside and outside the church. We seek opportunities to collaborate with like-minded ministries. We create platforms to advance the cause of disability ministry and share them with other leaders. We actively seek to maximize the impact of our ministry through application of technology.

When we talk about disability inclusion, siblings are part of the story.

They carry both the joy and the weight of growing up alongside a brother or sister with a disability—and they need support too.

From childhood through adulthood, siblings often play an important role in the life of their family member with a disability. Whether they’re sharing daily life or stepping into caregiving roles later on, their journey comes with unique challenges and opportunities for spiritual growth.

💛 The Church has a beautiful opportunity to make these siblings feel seen, heard, and supported through intentional disability ministry and family inclusion.

If you missed our Sibling Support Roundtable, don’t worry — you can still access our free Sibling Support Resource to help your church better serve families impacted by disability.

💡 What if repetition isn’t something to endure, but a gift to embrace?

In this week’s episode of the Key Ministry Podcast, Dr. Chris Hulshof reflects on Philippians 3:1 and what it teaches us about parenting, joy, and the beauty found in life’s repeated rhythms. Drawing from Scripture, personal experience, and the wisdom of G.K. Chesterton, he helps us see how repetition can mirror the steadfast heart of God, especially for parents of children impacted by disability. 💛
