This week, as the industry celebrates its leaders during , we're shining a light on the heart of The Terraces at Westminster: our Executive Director, Amy Dever.

Amy graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Education, and years later, after raising her own children, she was encouraged to explore Activities for Assisted Living and Dementia Care.

She was instantly hooked. What began as a part-time Activities Assistant role at a local CCRC quickly grew into positions as Activities Coordinator, Memory Care Director, Sales Director, and ultimately Executive Director.

“What I love about this field is the interaction with families and residents. Helping families find the care they need, building trust, and seeing residents flourish in their new environments is so rewarding. I’ve been an Executive Director for 4 years now and I never feel like work is boring or unimportant. I am proud of my community for the impact they are making on our residents’ lives—and the fun they provide while doing it.”

With a passion for helping others, Stacey showcases our core values throughout everything she helps our residents achieve.

Since joining the Westminster family in August, Stacey has demonstrated unwavering commitment to compassionate, personalized care. Residents, co-workers, and supervisors alike have recognized her dedication and the positive impact she creates every day.

When asked what she enjoys most about working at the Terraces at Westminster, she shared, "I enjoy coming to work every day to be greeted with smiles from the residents because they are so excited to see me. I enjoy being able to have the opportunity to give back and create a positive impact on their lives."

Stacey consistently goes above and beyond to ensure each resident’s needs are met, making her a true asset to our team.

Our residents experienced the grandeur of noble houses through virtual reality using our Rendever VR!

Our residents are enjoying the immersive world of virtual travel, bringing history to life and sparking joy and conversation. The Rendever VR program helps improve cognitive function and provides a sense of adventure, all from the comfort of home!

Today we are proud to shine the spotlight on our dedicated Patient Care Assistant, Ava Rutkowski!

In just four months here at Terraces at Westminster, Ava has already made a meaningful impact, inspiring her fellow team members to demonstrate excellence, passion and respect daily.

Ava joined the team in November as a Receptionist and quickly proved herself to be a dedicated and hardworking individual. Her passion for nursing led her to transition to a PRN Receptionist role while pursuing her nursing education. Recently, she embraced a new challenge by moving into a PCA position, where she can directly apply her growing knowledge and skills in patient care.

When asked what she enjoys most about working here, Ava shared, “I love the environment of our building. The residents are my favorite by far, but it’s nice to come to work and also have people you enjoy working with.” Her enthusiasm, dedication, and willingness to take on new roles make her a true asset to our team.

We are on one of our star residents, Laura!

Laura joined our family a little over two months ago. She grew up in Woodlawn, Maryland. Laura enjoys socializing with her friends, attending her favorite activities and helping the staff with their daily routine chores. She enjoys spending time with her family and her partner, Doug.

When asked Laura what her favorite thing about the Terraces at Westminster, she replied with, “All of the fun I have with my friends!”

At The Terraces at Westminster, home is more than a place, it’s a feeling.

Anna joined the Westminster family a little over a year ago and enjoys attending her favorite activities such as, bingo, musical entertainment, parties, and spending time with her family and friends. She met her best friend, Ms. MaryAlice, right here in our community and they enjoy every meal together! Anna recently started going on shopping outings with Life Enrichment, and shared her thoughts:

“I just really would like to thank whoever organized these nice trips for us to get out and shop. Thank you. It means a lot that I get to go out and get some things I need on my own.”

For this week’s Resident Spotlight, we’d love to shine our light on the lovely, Ms. Janice Lucas!

Janice said “YES!” to the address a little over two weeks ago, and ever since, she’s been all over the community, out and about! Meeting new friends, attending meals and some of her favorite activities already joined Book Club! She’s all over and we are super excited to see it in such a short amount of time!

Janice grew up in Nebraska and relocated a few times overtime but relocated to Westminster to be closer to her family. She was a Nursing Director at Shady Grove in Germantown, MD and says that’s a lifetime highlight along with being a mother and grandmother.

Since joining the Terraces at Westminster family in September, Bridget has made a meaningful impact through her commitment to ensuring her department thrives for our residents. Bridget inspires her fellow team members to demonstrate excellence, passion, and respect each and every day.

Residents adore her warm and welcoming presence, often sharing compliments about the way she makes the dining experience feel like a restaurant. She receives praise weekly from residents and their families for her kindness, professionalism, and the joy she brings to every interaction.

When asked what she enjoys most about working at the Terraces at Westminster, Bridget shared, “I love interacting with the residents, and I have a passion for the food industry. I enjoy coming in every morning being greeted with smiles in the dining room because they are always so joyful to see me.”
