Winter hibernation is over, and our spring programs are starting!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Full Moon Yoga and Meditation in honor of the Worm Moon. We may not have been able to see the moon, but the energy was there. It was a beautiful spring awakening yoga practice followed by a meditation to notice the stirrings around and within us. We ended the night with locally foraged tea from Barefoot Medicine Farm. ❤️

Our last fall Nature Scouts session was pure autumn magic. We foraged for leaves, berries, branches, dried flowers, and seed pods to craft our own fall nature centerpieces—each one unique and full of woodland charm.

We wrapped up the season gathered around the fire with sticky fingers and happy hearts, roasting s’mores and soaking up the cozy glow.

Here’s to a season of curiosity, courage, and connection with the wild. See you in the spring Scouts!

Nature Scouts Woodland Dig

This week our scouts became woodland detectives, uncovering secrets hidden in ice! They chipped and melted their way through frozen “forest finds” to see how a little patience, curiosity, and work could lead to treasures. We wrapped up the night with chilly hands and big smiles.

This week, our scouts tuned in to the language of the wild! They found their flock and herd members by sound, just like animals do, then explored the world beneath their feet in search of tiny creatures. From rustling leaves to hidden crawlers, we discovered how much life there is when we slow down and listen closely to nature. After exploring, they finished the night with some tasty forest floor trail mix.

Tonight we let our wild imaginations run free! The Nature Scouts built a Tiny Town in the Wild complete with shelters, cookware, and swingsets. We also went on a wolf spider quest, shining lights and searching the ground for those tiny glimmering eyes.

And of course we couldn’t resist running wild under the autumn sky — because that’s what being a Nature Scout is all about.

What a beautiful night under the Beaver Moon! Thank you for showing up to stretch, breathe, and move with the rhythms of nature. The moonlight, the quiet, the community — it all came together in the most beautiful way. I'm so grateful for this circle we share.

Nature Scouts Day 4: Owl Moon

Today was all about our feathered night friends! Scouts tested their listening skills with an owl sound identification game. We took a walk to the raptor mews to meet some amazing birds up close and discover what makes raptors such incredible hunters.

To top it off, everyone got hands-on with owl pellet dissections—uncovering tiny bones and clues about what owls eat. Nature detectives in action!

Day 3 of Fall Nature Scouts was all about winter survival. Scout families kicked things off with a lively game of 3 Corners, learning how animals stay active, migrate, or rest through the cold months. Then, teamwork and creativity took over as everyone built cozy shelters for thirr familiesand maybe a few friends.

We wrapped up by flocking together for snack, just like animals gathering for warmth and community.

Nature Scouts Day 2: “Good Seed, Go!”

Today our Nature Scouts explored how seeds travel far and wide to find their perfect home! We played a lively Squirrel and Acorn game, discovering how animals help move seeds around. Then we became scientists by collecting seeds with our “sticky socks” and tape bracelets on a seed hunt through the field!

Back at base camp, the Scouts sorted and studied their seed treasures.

It was a day of discovery, plenty of laughs, and proof that even the tiniest seed can make a big journey!

What a wonderful start to our Nature Scouts adventure! Today’s theme, “Tree Time,” helped us connect with the trees all around us. We kicked things off with a fun nature knowledge game, explored the woods to look for and identify trees, created beautiful leaf rubbings, and made some trees to eat. 🍂

Can’t wait to see what we discover next week!
