Residents recently enjoyed a Wellness Fair right on campus, featuring a variety of health and wellness vendors sharing helpful resources, services and information to support healthy living. From learning something new to connecting with local experts, there was plenty to explore.

And of course, no good event is complete without a few snacks to enjoy along the way!

Events like this help make it easy for residents to stay informed, stay active and prioritize their well-being—all without leaving campus.

What does uplifting someone look like in your role?

Jamie's answer:

Uplifting a resident can be as simple as taking a private moment with them to ask how they are doing. It can be helping a resident feel more empowered to handle tough situations they never envisioned conquering. Empowerment helps residents gain their self-confidence, dignity and self-determination. As a social worker, this means building meaningful relationships with residents and partnering together to discover and utilize those strengths and capabilities.

Our Residence Life team recently hosted the CLV Olympics, and residents brought their competitive spirit and sense of humor. The games included crowd favorites like granny pants, shuffleboard, “horse racing” (well… sort of!) and several other creative challenges that kept everyone laughing and cheering each other on.

One of the most fun moments? Residents crafted their own CLV Olympic torches using ice cream cones and Cheetos—proof that a little creativity (and snacks!) goes a long way.

Events like this are a great reminder that staying active, having fun and sharing a few laughs together are all part of life at CLV. Who says the Olympics only happen every four years?

I uplift residents and families by being present with them and helping them feel seen and heard. I also try to recognize the meaningful moments, even during the challenging times, that matters most.

Residents recently got a behind-the-scenes look at the Avondale Dining Room kitchen at CLV. Chef Kevin and Megan, dining room manager, led the tour and shared how the culinary team keeps everything running smoothly—from meal prep to the final plate.

To top off the experience, each resident received a chef hat with the sticker: “I signed up for the kitchen tour, and all I got was this lousy hat!”—plus a delicious March-themed Rice Krispies treat homemade by Layla.

It was a fun way to learn more about the teamwork and creativity that go into every meal served at CLV!

Fresh, made-to-order and served with a smile!

Recently, the culinary team at CLV rolled out the Sub Mobile Cart, bringing delicious, build-your-own subs to residents. From choosing their favorite deli meat and toppings to chatting with our culinary team along the way, residents enjoyed a fun and flavorful dining experience.

It’s just one of the many ways our team adds creativity and connection to mealtime at CLV!

👏 Congratulations to Owen, our February Server of the Month at Carroll Lutheran Village!

Owen has been part of the CLV team for 1 year and 10 months, and one of his favorite things about working here is getting to know the residents and hearing their stories.

His favorite memory so far? Having a drink named after him! Around here, cranberry juice is now known as “An Owen.”
