Did you know that tight calf muscles and/or a fixated talus bone can limit ankle mobility? When ankle dorsiflexion is limited, the body often compensates for that limitation by increasing motion in other areas. Walking, running, squatting and climbing chairs are all activities that require proper dorsiflexion of the ankle. Without this mobility in the ankle, the ankle may evert and pronate in order to stabilize contact with the ground.
Limited ankle mobility can also work its way up to the knee and cause knee problems as well as tendonosis, tendonitis and possible strains/tears of the achilles tendon.
If you're suffering from tight calves or believe you have limited mobility in your ankles, contact me to help improve your ankle mobility before you start experiencing problems.
