Rainy Day Food Feels 🌧 🥕

Warm/cooked food is incredibly good for our digestion and health! Days like this make me desire the comfy vibes!

However, it is natural to have different cravings in different seasons, different weather patterns and each day! Some days that may be cooler/raw food — some days may be warm! Some days, it’s both!

Follow your intuition on what your body wants. Our body is always speaking to us — our interpretation can be tricky, but there is wisdom illuminating from you regarding your internal needs, constantly.

Here are two of my favorite cooked veggie recipes:

BUTTERY ZUCHINNI AND ONIONS
🥒 Wash and chop zucchini and onions.
🥒 Place in a pan together with grassfed butter. We use probably half a stick/container of Kerry Gold.
🥒 Cover and cook on medium. The butter and liquids of the veggies will create the softness needed to cook the veggies down.
🥒 Add sea salt and pepper in the last minute and toss. Enjoy a meal packed with nourishment!

CINNAMON HONEY CARROTS
🥕 Wash and chop carrots (or baby carrots) into a steam pot. Steam until soft. Drain.
🥕 Add coconut oil or grassfed butter to the carrots.
🥕 Also add cinnamon and raw honey. You could swap for real maple syrup if needed!
🥕 Toss and enjoy the delicious goodness!

Creamy Coconut & Turmeric Wild Rice Soup 😍

All recipes are to be played with!

✨Enjoy with protein (chicken, turkey, steak, pork or whatever you please! Chunked, shredded, you name it!).

Please take a minute to read! Perspective plot twist!

ME:
**Checked in via email about client missing her food and wellness tracking for 2 weeks. I posed some overall questions to help her evaluate if the tracking tool still serves her and how she is relating to herself/her journey without it for two weeks -- is she happy with how she has related to her routine without extra support.

CLIENT:
I would say the answer is somewhat. I guess Fridays/Saturdays are my cheat days. I just don't eat enough veggies those days, and I know it.
Overall though, I am proud of myself and the awareness this process is helping me build. Whether I want to admit it or not, consistently choosing to add more greens to my diet has been a new habit I've had to learn. And like any new habit/lifestyle change, it takes time. I'm not where I want to be, but I'm not where I was and for me that's okay. This process is slower, and on occasion (with the holidays and life drama itself) harder than I expected but I am so glad to have your support and these reminders/pep talks with myself that reiterate what I have learned from you. Maybe I should good journal just my Friday/Saturdays? What're your thoughts?

ME:
It sure does take time! And the awareness is key —— from awareness, we can then make choice!
Knowing you aren’t where you were is AMAZING — and having your eyes set on a goal (but with compassion with the journey) its exactly where I want you to land. That is great! That truly is life — there is no “destination” per say, as the journey always continues. But having benchmarkers along the way (and prioritizing meeting them) is what it is all about.
If you feel solid in the weekdays, but want some accountability for the weekends, sure! I am more than happy to check each week on your weekend entries only. Even if you get 4 cups of veggies in each day on the weekend rather than 6 — then you won’t spend Sun/Mon trying to catch up on digestion/moods/etc and more. OR perhaps your body can handle this pattern and you don’t have a “catch up” period like some of us do. This is where the self awareness comes in. IF YOUR BODY TOLERATES IT WELL and you aren’t symptomatic same day or in the couple days following … heck ya!!!! But if you find that it throws your body when you lose some of the foundations — then the reality is that it is keeping you from where you want to be and on a hamster wheel.
Our body’s all respond and adapt differently. It isn’t for me to decide what is in your best interest. It is for you to evaluate how the patterns serve or don’t serve you. And my goal is always to support you in doing that. This is where lifestyle and nutrition are so individual. And your raw and honest awareness of this and the truth you reveal will be what motivates you OR brings you peace with your patterns.
So take a curious and nonjudgmental interest in how Sunday/Mon/Tue feel on a general basis, knowing the weekends are where you loosen up your roots a bit. This is where journaling all week can be impactful, because it helps you take those “extra notes” where we track items of wellness and get a clear and measurable indication. The truth is — the loosening may serve you. It may not. Either answer is okay. It is just about finding what is true for you and using that wisdom for your overall relationship to yourself, your world and your goals.

DAY 1!

HAPPY DAY 1 to our New Years Cleansers!

I am so excited for our New Year's Group to take the next 21 days to support their body with natural means, beyond how they already do!!!

This annual cleanse is a wonderful tool in maintaining life long vitality, resilience, and internal adaptability! We KNOW chemical toxicity, metal toxicity, food challenges and immune stressors are the major root cause burdens to our body. This program helps us hit the "reset" button by providing an environment that the body can thrive in -- rather than try to just survive.

This program supports our body's natural and AMAZING internal detoxification processes, teaches us new things about ourselves (our relationship to food, our body responses, etc) each time we do it and provides structure to come back to eating whole foods.
Each time you explore this program, you will learn something new about yourself or a new health/life skill. It is also a great energetic reminder to "detox" and evaluate your life and how you relate to your world.

I couldn't be more happy FOR YOU that you made the choice to join us again (or have in the past or future). Nutrition reminders as you consider “resetting”:

✨ I don’t care if sometimes you eat at 9:30 PM. Eat. Fuel your beautiful body. Your body needs you to show up for it, even if it’s later than you planned.

✨Whole organic foods will always be your best medicine. Use it in prevention and run towards it in “treatment”.

✨Nutrition is never one size fits all. Know and honor yourself. It’s a journey. And give yourself the space to honor that what feels right yesterday may not feel good today or tomorrow. Listen to your inner whispers and adapt.

✨ Use the dang paper plate sometimes.

Brunch 🤤

Mealtime is my favorite part of everyday. I’m not kidding. I LOVE food. I love healthy food. I love junk food too. People ask me how I “stay on track”. My answer is simple.

I feel my best when I eat real, whole, organic foods from the earth. Every single system in my body functions better and I FEEL a tremendous difference within myself pending what I’ve been eating consistently. And the more consistent I eat well, the less junk I crave (to be truthful- it’s such a lifestyle for me, I hardly crave).

So for me, that is easy. I like to function at a very high level. I love to feel good. Not feeling good, when I know it’s that simple, isn’t an option. Life is hard enough without CHOOSING that path.

So in our house, we don’t buy the “junk”. We shop the farm and the perimeter of the store. We have our “junk” in moderation because we trust our bodies and know our own personal needs.

There is so much more to nutrition and relationship to food than this. But something to ponder.

Build your life around superfoods and health and you don’t have to worry about being “on track” or “off track”. Set yourself up for success. And know your WHY. Because if your why is for ANY other reason outside of yourself or your health .. it likely won’t stick. And you deserve to feel well.

Crustless quiche! 🥳

Scramble in a bowl:
✨24 organic pasture raised large eggs
✨1 cup water or raw milk as desired

Chop and lightly sautĂŠ in a pan with EVOO:
✨ Onions
✨ Fresh Garlic
✨ Kale or other greens
✨ Peppers
✨ Broccoli
Or any veggie you like!
Spice with sea salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder!

Add protein and raw cheese/goat cheese/feta, as desired. Add thyme and rosemary!

Graaafed butter your pan! Bake until your fork pokes through the quiche clean! Enjoy!
