Women of APPNA - Wappna This is the official page for the Women of APPNA (WAPPNA), an organization formed by women physician members of APPNA

Women Physicians of APPNA or WAPPNA is an organization formed by women physician members of APPNA. It works under the umbrella of its parent organization APPNA with the same tax id. It is a secular organization which opens its doors to all women physicians of Pakistani descent regardless of color, religion and other orientations. This organization was formed for the following main purposes:

1. Social and professional networking within its members (but not limited to just its members)

2. Providing a forum to its members for problem solving and social support purposes.

3. Planning and execution of Social Welfare, health care and education projects here and in Pakistan benefiting all women under the premise that such projects will also help children and hence benefit the next generation.

4. Currently APPNA has 640 women members which is roughly one fourth of total APPNA membership. Using the platform of WAPPNA we hope to benefit APPNA by bringing in more members within the fold of APPNA.

Obituary
Our dear friend Dr Sarwat Iqbal passed away this morning in the presence of her loved ones.
She had been battling illness and hospitalization recently and lost her battle.
Sarwat has an illustrious career and has been a champion for women empowerment and development of South Asian youth. She came to this country and after establishing herself, she brought her extended family to the US. As her children got older she worked hard painstakingly to provide them the finest opportunity for higher education. Her dream was that one day her children will reach great heights and encouraged them to no end.
She joined APPNA almost 20 years ago and that’s where all of us met her and formed a strong bond. She was very involved in various capacities there and founded WAPPNA, APPNAPUN and Dental APPNA chapter along with others. Her health was always pulling her away from her goals but she was unrelenting. Those of her friends and colleagues that know her will vouch for her ambitions.
This obituary is just a snapshot of her and will not do justice to her achievements.
She leaves behind her devoted husband Javed Iqbal, son Atif and daughters Ammarah and Zarah along with her siblings.
May she Rest In Peace and watch her children prosper through life from above.
