🧠Let's Talk about it🧠
Even though it isn't Tuesday, our counselors want to share an important message before Suicide Awareness Month comes to an end.
The community should be aware of the signs of someone in a mental health crisis. This include, but are not limited to, abusive behavior, inability to perform daily tasks, sudden mood changes, substance use, hallucinations, paranoia, agitation, psychosis, and isolation.
It's also important to know the signs of someone thinking of completing suicide. These symptoms include, but are not limited to, giving away personal possessions, making or changing a will, stockpiling pills, obtaining a weapon, sudden cheerfulness after a person of despondency, and preoccupation with death.
It's crucial that the community knows how to respond to someone in crisis, like contacting the person's care team, call or texting 988/911, and listen to the person with compassion. With this being said, do NOT promise the person secrecy, debate with them, handle the situation alone, or tell the person to "snap out of it."
Everyone deserves support while in crisis, and prevention starts with education🧠💙💜
