Watching your child step into something bigger than themselves is one of the most humbling experiences as a parent.
My 15-year-old daughter is currently in Lima Peru serving on a mission trip at Casa Hogar, an orphanage just outside the city. For nine days, she is pouring her heart into the children there—sharing her faith, her kindness, her compassion, and most importantly, her time.
She has always been devoted to God, but seeing her live out her faith in action is something entirely different. She isn’t just visiting—she’s building relationships. She’s connecting. She’s listening. She’s loving without condition.
What’s been most powerful to witness is how this experience is shaping her leadership. Leadership isn’t developed in comfort—it’s developed in service. It’s built through empathy, courage, adaptability, and the willingness to step into unfamiliar places with an open heart.
At 15, she is learning:
• How to communicate across language and cultural barriers
• How to serve without expecting anything in return
• How to lead by example
• How to be present where she is needed most
Experiences like this don’t just impact the children she’s serving—they are paving her path for the future. They are strengthening her confidence, deepening her faith, and expanding her vision for the kind of leader and woman she wants to become.
So proud of her courage to say yes.
So proud of her heart for others.
And so grateful she is choosing a life rooted in faith, service, and compassion.
The world needs more servant leaders. 💛
