Are you having fall and winter mood changes?
Does your mood dip when the days get shorter? Is it just winter blues, or Seasonal Affective Disorder - SAD?
SAD symptoms can include fatigue, increased appetite and weight gain, depressed mood, oversleeping, social withdrawal, trouble concentrating and irritability.
Treatment for SAD typically involves:
Light therapy: Exposure to bright light, either from a light box or outdoors. Watching the sunrise and watching the sunset can also increase serotonin levels and improve mood.
Antidepressant medication.
Psychotherapy: Talk therapy can help relieve symptoms and teach coping strategies.
Lifestyle changes: Working out 150 minutes per week, eating a Mediterranean diet, and getting enough sleep.
Positive self-talk: starting each day with gratitude and a positive attitude.
I’d like to hear from you on this topic!
Thanks!
