Your child isn’t giving you a hard time…they’re HAVING a hard time!!

If you’ve ever felt like your child’s behavior is a personal choice or a reflection of your parenting…take a breath. It’s likely dysregulation.

When a child’s sensory or emotional cup overflows, their ‘thinking brain’ goes offline. They aren’t choosing to be ‘bad’; they are trying to survive a feeling they can’t name yet.

🧠 This week on our page, we are breaking down dysregulation, so visit our page and follow along as we identify the ROOT of your child’s behaviors

Let’s shift from correction to connection together✨

The importance of functional, play-based therapy is that it builds real-life skills in ways that feel natural to children.

Because love isn’t always spoken, especially with kids.
It’s felt in the small, everyday moments.

Sitting on the floor to play.
Reading the same favorite book again.
Holding them close when feelings are big.
Letting them lead.
Staying present even when it’s hard.

These moments tell your child “you’re safe, you’re seen, and you’re loved” without needing the words.

You’re not overthinking it. You’re paying attention 🤍 Most parents are told picky eating is “just a phase.”

But when mealtimes feel stressful, limited, or exhausting
there may be more going on than preferences.

Feeding challenges can be connected to sensory processing, oral-motor skills, past experiences, or regulation and they’re more common than parents are told.

If mealtimes feel hard. Your child may benefit from feeding therapy.

What feeding therapy actually supports:

• picky eating and extreme food selectivity
• gagging, choking, or difficulty chewing
• sensory sensitivities to textures, smells, or temperatures
• food refusal and limited food variety
• difficulty transitioning to solids or new textures
• oral-motor skill development (chewing, tongue movement, lip strength)
• regulation and emotional responses during meals
• building a safe, positive relationship with food

“Too young” is one of the biggest myths we hear.

Supporting development when the brain is most flexible is the best thing you can do for your child!!

If you’re noticing something feels off (even in infancy) that instinct matters.

One size fits all doesn’t work in speech therapy. Every child teaches us something new & that’s what keeps us learning
