Long before this day was whispered about and labeled “unlucky,” Friday the 13th had a much different vibe! It was a day of reverence. It was a day of good fortune and beautiful feminine energy. The day, Friday, was named after Freya ( the goddess the feminine, of love, beauty, and creation). The number 13 represents the annual rhythms of the moon (13 lunar cycles in a year) and women typically have 13 cycles in a year. As such, Friday the 13th truly honored the intuitive, cyclical nature of the goddess and the sacred feminine.
In many ancient traditions, Friday the 13th was a powerful day to gather, to rest, to create, to trust the deep knowing within. It symbolized wisdom, fertility, transformation, and the magic of life itself. Over time, patriarchal systems rose and, as it did with many ancient traditions, sought to quiet feminine power and earth-based spirituality. Stories bagan to shift. Symbols once honored became feared. The mystical became misfortune. The wise woman became something to silence. But energy cannot be erased! Many of us remember and now we have the bravery and courage to remind others of this history.
Today, on Friday the 13th, just one day before Valentine’s Day, I’m choosing to honor it as a return. A return to love and intuition. A return to softness and strength coexisting. A return to honoring the cycles of rest and creation. May we reclaim what was ALWAYS sacred. May we honor the feminine in all of us. It’s time to cherish the nurturing, the fierce, the intuitive, the creative. May this day feel grounding, empowering, and just a little bit magical. It is so important now more than ever. 💜👸🏻🌕💫🔮☮️♒️🌀
