Letter to an Elder Day brought meaningful moments of connection and joy across our National Health Care Associates community. 💌

At The Pines at Poughkeepsie Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, residents were deeply touched to receive nearly 2,000 heartfelt cards from schools, local organizations, and community members both near and far — with some arriving from as far as California, Maryland, and Florida. Thanks to this incredible outpouring of kindness, each resident received a personal collection of letters filled with thoughtful messages and creative artwork.

The smiles, laughter, and even a few happy tears were a powerful reminder of how much a simple gesture can mean.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to write and share your kindness. Your words made a lasting impact.

This month, we proudly recognize and celebrate the incredible social workers who play such a vital role at National’s facilities every day. Social workers are at the heart of resident-centered care — providing emotional support, advocating for resident needs, guiding care planning, and helping residents and families navigate important transitions.

Their work brings comfort during times of adjustment, clarity during complex decisions, and reassurance when it’s needed most. Through compassion, empathy, and dedication, they help foster trust, connection, and overall well-being for those we serve.

We are truly grateful for the difference our social workers make in the lives of our residents and their loved ones.

By bringing smiles to those around them, our team embodies kindness every day, helping our centers truly feel like home.

Winter can affect more than just the weather. Shorter days and reduced sunlight can impact mood and energy, particularly for individuals experiencing Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).

At our centers, we take a comprehensive approach to resident well-being. By fostering social connection, promoting physical activity, providing balanced nutrition, and creating bright, supportive environments, we help residents maintain wellness for both mind and body.
