🍀✨ When Irish eyes are smiling at Ashton Commons Senior Living!

Our community enjoyed a full day of St. Patrick’s Day fun and festivities. The celebration began with making Irish soda bread in the morning, followed by a Shamrock Shake Social in the afternoon, generously sponsored by Suncrest Hospice - Pittsburgh, PA. ☘️🥤

Residents then took an armchair trip to Ireland, exploring the sights and charm of the Emerald Isle, before enjoying dinner accompanied by entertainment from Gene Testa. Our chef also kept the spirit going with delicious Irish-themed meals for both lunch and dinner.

It was a wonderful day filled with laughter, great food, and festive cheer.

Our community welcomed Matt Price this morning for an energizing Drumming for Vitality activity. Residents drummed along to favorites from Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, and Johnny Cash, creating a lively and joyful atmosphere.

Rhythmic drumming activities can provide many benefits - the movement and music encourage coordination, stimulate the mind, and bring people together through shared rhythm and laughter.

It was a fantastic way to start the day — full of music, energy, and great company! 🎵

Our St. Patrick’s Day celebrations continued with an afternoon full of music, movement, and festive spirit. Residents had their toes tapping and hands clapping as we welcomed the delightful dancers from the Fitzpatrick School of Irish Dance, who treated everyone to a lively performance.

The celebration kept rolling during dinner with Irish tunes from Johnny Gallagher, creating the perfect soundtrack for a festive evening.

Between the dancing, the music, and plenty of smiles, it truly felt like we were blessed with the luck of the Irish! 🍀

Our residents are gearing up for a favorite holiday with some festive creativity. This afternoon, everyone made St. Patrick’s Day door-hanging decorations, and each one turned out uniquely different — just like the talented hands that crafted them! There was plenty of laughter, storytelling, and creativity flowing as we worked together.

A big thank you to BrightStar Care for sponsoring the activity and providing all the supplies. You really helped us sham-rock this craft project! 🍀

Bullseyes and big smiles all around at Ashton Commons! 🎯

Residents had a fantastic time enjoying some friendly competition during our axe-throwing activity. The laughter was nonstop as everyone took their turn aiming for the target — and even our new chef and new activity assistant joined in on the fun!

The highlight of the afternoon? One of our residents took home bragging rights after landing the most bullseyes of the day. 👏

We had a full house in the Club Room for this month’s Chef Demo — and a very special guest chef! 👩‍🍳☘️

Diane, our Executive Director, stepped into the spotlight to prepare Homemade Reuben Cups, a festive and flavorful appetizer perfect for the season. Residents enjoyed watching the step-by-step demonstration — and Diane even recruited one of our residents to serve as her sous chef for the afternoon!

As we gear up for St. Patrick’s Day, everyone sipped on Irish cream coffee while taking in the delicious aromas and learning a few new culinary tips along the way.

At Ashton Commons, events like these bring residents together to share laughter, creativity, and, of course, wonderful food.

Laissez les bons temps rouler! 💜💚💛 Our residents had a ball this week getting creative and celebrating Mardi Gras in style! From feathers and sequins to glitter and gems, everyone designed their own festive masks—and the results were fabulous.

After crafting their masterpieces (and enjoying some sweet treats for Fat Tuesday 🍩), we kept the celebration going with a lively “Mask & Mingle” Social where everyone had the chance to showcase their creations.

With this beautiful new addition to our community, we’re officially launching a Billiards Club!

Whether you’re a seasoned player or just learning to line up the perfect shot, there’s a place at the table for everyone. We can’t wait to see the fun (and a little healthy competition!) begin.

💕 Valentine's Day came a little early to our community! Residents enjoyed a fantastic evening in celebration of one of our favorite holidays. We enjoyed a fabulous meal made by our new executive chef, James, and music entertainment provided by Gene Testa. Guests also had the chance to win great gift baskets donated by our partners. To make the evening even more special, the staff joined in on the fun dancing with residents and made some great memories together.

🎶 This afternoon, our community had a wonderful experience with Tibetan Singing Bowls, thanks to one of our talented residents! We explored the amazing benefits through an insightful video and hands-on demonstrations. Each participant got to make their bowl sing! The different sizes created unique pitches that captivated us all. 🎵 To top it off, we wrapped up with a rejuvenating meditation session. It was truly an enriching day for everyone involved! 🙏
