It feels like weeks since we've had a colorful sunrise in Pittsburgh, and this morning finally broke that trend, as the sky was filled with vibrant tones just before sunrise.
I actually hadn't planned to go out this morning. I was up at my usual time and getting some things done around the house, when I looked out of the window a little after 5:00 and saw the first hint of color already forming. So I grabbed my gear and headed to Mt. Washington.
This time of year, the sun rises directly behind the city from there, so I figured that would be a good spot. And when I got there, I saw that there were some clouds behind the city, but the majority were almost behind me.
I checked the weather and saw that the clouds were actually moving in from the southeast. Knowing that, I figured the West End Overlook would be the perfect place to be when those clouds reached the city, and as you can see from this shot, it ended up working out nicely.
Found this nice little frame for the city as well. All in all, a fun morning. Lots more shots to share.
