Last week, we bid farewell to one of our most beloved surgeons, Dr. Imbriglia. As a founding member of our practice, his departure is bittersweet. We were honored to celebrate his incredible career and well-earned retirement. Thank you, Dr. Imbriglia, for everything that you’ve done. You will be greatly missed!

Curious about who’s working behind the scenes (and on the sidelines) to help repair the Steelers’ hands when injuries occur? Dr. Glenn Buterbaugh has been a pillar of the Hand and Shoulder Center practice since 1985. After 40 years, we had the opportunity to interview him.

1. What is the most inspiring part of your job? “Taking care of people. I enjoy teaching patients, fellows, residents, and therapists.” “I enjoy being able to take complicated situations and make them better.”

2. What do you enjoy doing in your free time? “Spending time with friends and coworkers. I like to golf and ski.” “I run for 30 minutes every morning at 5:00 AM.”

3. Who is someone that you admire and why? “One of my mentors, Dr. Richard Smith. I trained under him. He’s one of the smartest people I’ve ever known.” “Dr. Imbriglia is someone that I admire. I was a med student when I met him.”

4. Do you have any skills or talents that people don’t know about? “I was on Dancing with the Pittsburgh Celebrities in 2018 and I won. I took two months of dance lessons to prepare for it.”

5. What are some causes that you care about? “Sports medicine.” Dr. B has been the hand surgeon for the Steelers since the early 90’s specializing in the care of sustained injuries to their hands and fingers. See picture 3 fore more details.
