A few words that meant a lot to me. đź’š

Supporting families through the 4th trimester is something I hold very close, and hearing reflections like this is always a gentle reminder of why this work matters.

So grateful to be trusted during such a tender season.

Those first weeks home with a new baby can feel tender, exhausting, and full of adjustment — especially at night. If sleep feels different from what you expected, you’re not doing anything wrong.

Here are 5 sleep & survival tips for new parents:

1. Think in small windows of rest.
Instead of aiming for a full night of sleep, focus on short stretches that help your body reset.

2. Lower expectations around routine.
The early weeks are about healing and adjustment, not perfect schedules.

3. Accept support when it’s offered.
Having help overnight can make rest feel more possible.

4. Focus on nourishment and hydration.
Sleep and recovery are closely connected to how supported your body feels.

5. Give yourself permission to rest without guilt.
Postpartum is a major transition — rest is part of care.

If this feels familiar, you don’t have to navigate it alone. 🌙

Placenta encapsulation is one option some families explore to support their postpartum recovery. Like all postpartum care, it’s a personal choice and looks different for everyone. 🌿

There’s no single sign that tells you overnight postpartum support is “right.” Often, it’s a mix of exhaustion, adjustment, and needing steady support during the hardest hours 🤍

Overnight care is always tailored to your family and may begin the first night home, a few nights a week, or continue over time. Support can include feeds, soothing, and gentle guidance to help parents rest more fully.

If this helped you reflect on what your family might need, you’re always welcome to reach out.

I support families throughout Greater Boston and the South Shore, including Weymouth, Quincy, Braintree, Cohasset, Duxbury, Scituate, and surrounding areas. Feel free to message or email me anytime.

For the breastfeeding parent who needs a reminder today.

You are enough. Your body is learning. Your baby is learning. You’re not doing this wrong.

Save this for later, or send it to someone who needs it. đź’ž

Postpartum support is often framed as optional — something you consider only if you’re struggling enough.

But postpartum is a time of healing, adjustment, and deep transition. Support during this season isn’t a luxury. It’s necessary.

Needing help doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong. It means you’re honoring what your body and mind are moving
through. Support can look different for every family. What matters is having care that helps lessen the load and creates space for rest, recovery, and connection.

If this resonates with you, you’re not alone. 💚

Starting this new month with a renewed sense of purpose, presence, and care. 🌿

Hi, I’m Stephanie, the doula behind Village Birth & Beyond. With over 15 years of supporting families and 9+ years in perinatal work, I’ve attended over 60 births and supported 50+ families during the postpartum period.

My passion for postpartum support comes from lived experience. I know firsthand how overwhelming this time can feel, how hard it can be to ask for help, and how easy it is to carry more than you should. Over the years, I’ve learned that postpartum deserves just as much attention and support as birth itself.

At Village Birth & Beyond, I offer compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to each family's needs, with a focus on overnight postpartum support. I serve families in Greater Boston and the South Shore, ensuring no one feels alone in their journey.

If you’re expecting, newly postpartum, or simply exploring what support could look like for you, feel free to message or email me anytime.
