Our Honored Speakers include the following leaders in their fields. 1. Joseph J. Magliocco, President of Michter’s Distillery and Chatham Imports is this year’s Downing Lecturer. 2. Carlos David, MD, Professor of Neurosurgery at UNC-Chapel Hill School of Medicine, specializing in skull base and complex brain tumors, endoscopic skull base surgery, and cerebrovascular surgery is our Hudson Lecturer. 3. Kevin Foley, MD, our Semmes Lecturer, is a professor of neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, and biomedical engineering at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and serves as chairman of Semmes Murphey Clinic and director of complex spine surgery. 4. Jacques J. Morcos, MD, Professor and Chairman of the Vivian L. Smith Department of Neurosurgery at McGovern Medical School, UTHealth Houston, is this year's Distinguished Practitioner. He also serves as Co-Director of UTHealth Houston Neurosciences and Director of the Cerebrovascular and Skull Base Surgery Program.

SNS Members and Non-Members may submit abstracts relating to current and emerging techniques and technology, evidence-based approaches to neurosurgical practice, and basic science studies relevant to neurosurgery.

Also—DEADLINE IS EXTENDED for Young Surgeon Grants Applications: Submit by Nov. 28, 2025.
Residents, fellows, and surgeons in the US within their first 3 years of practice are invited to apply for an educational grant to attend the SNS Annual Meeting. Accepted applicants receive: Registration Rebate for SNS 2026 and up to $275 in travel expenses reimbursed. Preference is given to abstract presenters, so submit yours today!

Announcing Downing Lecturer at SNS 2026

We are excited to announce this year’s Downing Lecturer, Joseph J. Magliocco, President of Louisville-based Michter’s Distillery as well as its parent Chatham Imports, a supplier of imported wines and niche spirits. Joseph graduated from Yale College, where he majored in Religious Studies, and he began working as a part-time bartender. He went on to earn his law degree at Harvard Law School.

Upon completing his studies, he began working in the spirits industry. In the 1990's, working with his mentor Dick Newman, former President of Austin Nichols, he restarted the Michter's brand. Joseph has received several honors during his career including his 2023 induction into The Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame® and his 2024 induction into The Whisky Magazine Hall of Fame. Inducted in Bordeaux as a Commandeur de L’Ordre du Bontemps de Medoc et de Graves, he has considerable experience working with wines as well.
