To Foster: To promote the development of, to support; to care for or cherish
As a birth doula, I believe in living out the definition above by supporting and cherishing women as they journey through pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum experience. I believe in a woman’s ability and desire to labor and birth her baby in the way that she feels most comfortable and safe. I am here to help provide women and their partners with the support and resources needed to confidently walk through this wondrous time in their lives. I am also here to provide continuous emotional and nonmedical physical support throughout labor, birth, and postpartum.
I am trained through DONA International and have also completed my Breastfeeding Education course. I find joy in constantly learning more that will help to serve those that I support and have an extensive list of resource and referrals available. I have experience with both medicated and nonmedicated birth as well as VBAC. I also work closely with other local doulas that provide a network of resources, information, and guidance to round out my support to a laboring mom.
My journey as a birth doula began after the birth of my second child. With the help of a doula I was able to feel supported and cherished as I walked through labor and birth. I have since had the desire to walk alongside women so that they might feel cherished and supported in the ways that are most needed to them in their childbearing years. I view each birth as unique and each woman as individual. It is not lost upon me that the ability to be present and serve a woman during this time is an honor and a gift!
