📢🚨Helpful tips from your home health staff:
Blood pressure is the force of your blood pushing against the walls of your arteries as your heart pumps. It's like water flowing through a hose....
HIGH blood pressure (aka Hypertension) is when the pressure is too high, it puts extra strain on your arteries' walls and the heart which leads to serious heart damage. Symptoms can include: headaches, dizziness, shortness of breath, blurred vision, or chest pain/discomfort.
LOW blood pressure (aka Hypotension) is when the pressure is too low, meaning blood isn't being pushed strong enough through the arteries to deliver oxygen and nutrients throughout your body and results in reduced blood flow to all organs resulting in poor circulation overall. Sudden drops in blood pressure can lead to falls. Symptoms can include: increased fatigue, weakness, dizziness, vision changes, and unexplained fainting spells.
Home health skilled nursing can help by regularly monitoring your blood pressure, noticing changes early and promptly seeking treatment for you. Nurses can help manage medications to ensure you understand your medicines and are taking them correctly. This support helps prevent mistakes, improves results and gives peace of mind, promotes safety and independence at home!
