Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month is a reminder to listen to your body and speak up if something feels off. The CDC notes that colorectal polyps and colorectal cancer don’t always cause symptoms at first, which is why routine screening matters. If symptoms do appear, they may include:
• A change in bowel habits that lasts more than a few days (diarrhea, constipation, or a change in stool consistency)
• Feeling like your bowel doesn’t fully empty after a bowel movement
• Blood in your stool or bleeding from the re**um
• Ongoing belly discomfort (cramps, gas, or pain)
• Weakness or fatigue that doesn’t improve
• Unexplained weight loss
These symptoms can have many causes, but they’re still important to take seriously. If you’ve noticed any of the signs above, Parkview Rural Health Clinic is here to help you get answers close to home.
