Veterinary reception is not “just answering phones.”

It is emotional triage.
It is operational control.
It is being kind when people are rude.
It is being precise when everything is moving at once.
And somehow still smiling through all of it.

That is not “just reception.”
That is skill.
That is labor.
That is intelligence.
That is leadership.

The Vet CSR exists because this role deserves to be seen clearly.

Happy Veterinary Receptionist Week!

Veterinary CSR's are the front line at any veterinary hospital. They handle high-volume scheduling, phone calls, client communications, payment processing, and medical record keeping while also putting on a welcoming and organized environment. These cool cats are pros at managing stressful situations. 😺

We appreciate and want to recognize our own CSR's! They work every day to keep up with our busy schedule. Our CSR's wear many hats at our hospital. They juggle all kinds of tasks on the daily. They get the brunt of the good, the bad, and the ugly in veterinary medicine. They handle it all with grace most days. 😉 And we couldn't be prouder of the work they do. Thank you for ALL that you do at Town and Country Animal Hospital! 💙🩶💙🩶

TCAH staff and their families enjoyed a hockey night! Abby even had the opportunity to get our logo on the ice for the season! 🏒

She was able to get tickets for everyone to enjoy an evening of entertainment. We are missing a few of the group but we had a great night! 🤩 Thanks Abby!

Postoperative surgical laser therapy allows us to reduce your pet's inflammation, pain, and recovery time!

The skin is the largest organ of mammals, accounting for about 15% of body weight and serving critical roles in homeostasis, protection, thermoregulation, sensory perception, and immune defense. Its multilayered structure—epidermis, dermis, and hypodermis—provides a robust barrier while enabling regeneration after injury. In veterinary medicine, efficient wound healing is essential for post-surgical recovery, minimizing infection risks, and improving patient comfort and prognosis.

Wound healing is a dynamic process with three overlapping phases: inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling. Each stage is coordinated through interactions between inflammatory cells, fibroblasts, endothelial cells, cytokines, and extracellular matrix (ECM) components. 🤓

Laser therapy can improve overall wound healing after minor and major surgeries! 💥

The Benefits of Laser Therapy for Wound Healing:

Laser therapy is increasingly common in veterinary medicine and has numerous benefits for surgical wound healing in dogs and cats.

Pain Reduction:

One of the immediate benefits of post-op laser therapy for dogs and cats is its ability to reduce pain. Laser therapy emits specific wavelengths of light that pe*****te the skin and tissues. This light interacts with cells, enhancing their metabolic activity (improving cell function and overall tissue health) and promoting the release of endorphins, which are natural painkillers. As a result, pets experience a significant reduction in pain and discomfort, which is particularly beneficial after surgeries such as spaying or neutering and other invasive procedures.

Accelerated Tissue Repair:

Laser therapy for dogs and cats after surgery can speed up the tissue repair process. The laser light stimulates cellular activity and promotes the production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate), which is the energy currency of cells. This increase in cellular energy can enhance the regeneration of damaged tissues, leading to faster healing of surgical incisions. For pet owners, this means less time worrying about their furry friend’s recovery and more time enjoying their companionship.

Enhanced Wound Healing:

Laser treatment after spaying, neutering, or other surgical procedures can greatly improve wound healing. Laser therapy enhances blood circulation and oxygen supply to the affected area, which are crucial factors in the healing process. The improved circulation not only delivers more nutrients and oxygen to the wound, but also helps remove waste products such as carbon dioxide, urea, and lactic acid. By removing these waste products, the body can reduce inflammation, leading to faster and more efficient healing.

Improved Nerve Function:

Laser therapy promotes and improves nerve function. Surgical procedures can occasionally lead to temporary nerve damage or inflammation, which can cause pain and discomfort. Post-op laser therapy for dogs and cats can help reduce inflammation and stimulate nerve regeneration, restoring normal function and reducing the likelihood of chronic pain issues.

Boosted Vascular Activity:

Laser therapy for wound healing also positively impacts vascular activity. The treatment induces vasodilation, which widens blood vessels. This process enhances blood flow to the healing tissues, providing them with essential nutrients and oxygen. Improved vascular activity ensures the surgical site receives ample blood supply, which is crucial for optimal healing and recovery.

We are proud to offer laser therapy! 💥

During a treatment session, the handheld laser wand is slowly moved back and forth over the damaged tissue, producing a warm, pleasant sensation that most pets seem to enjoy and find relaxing. Sessions usually last 10 to 30 minutes, with the number of sessions and frequency of treatments dependent on the injury. Chronic conditions may be treated weekly, whereas surgical incisions and open wounds often require daily treatment.

Dr. Radcliffe is using our new laser to help a patient with Intervertebral disc disease (IVDD)!

🥳 Job opportunity 🥳.

With summer coming up we are looking to hire some extra help. 💪

Prior veterinary experience would be best.

Ideally, this would be a floating role to fill in across multiple departments. We want everyone to take a nice vacation to get some much needed self care. 💅 😜 If you are interested in a certain department let us know.

We also🤞have some baby birds flying the nest this fall for vet school. We would love to start training someone early in anticipation of their flight.

If you're interested send us your resume at tcah9575@gmail.com or stop in and drop one off. 🐱🐶

We have recently upgraded our laser! While we have previously offered laser therapy for certain conditions we now have a newer model that can do even more for our patients. Dr. Radcliffe and his pup Sarah are modeling our new safety goggles.😎

Read more to see if laser therapy is something that could benefit your pet! We will be sharing information all week on how laser therapy can help treat and manage certain diseases and conditions!

So, what is Companion Laser Therapy?

Photobiomodulation, commonly called laser therapy, targets your pet’s damaged cells and helps them regenerate faster. Much like sunlight helps a plant produce energy, laser therapy helps energize your pet’s cells.

This drug-free, side-effect free treatment can be used as an adjunct to your pet’s prescribed treatment plan.

In November of 2025 our hospital embarked on a new training adventure for all of our staff. Our hopes and dreams are to better educate, equip, and support our staff, clients, and patients. This program has allowed every department to access skills, information, and training across various topics. We hope to continue to hone our skills and knowledge through this program!

AtDove is a comprehensive online veterinary training platform offering hundreds of videos, articles, and RACE-approved CE for veterinary teams. It provides practical, real-case education for veterinarians, technicians, assistants and receptionists. It covers topics from basic skills to advanced surgery. We plan to use this as a better way for staff onboarding and continuing education for all support staff.💪

Atdove provides us with...
Comprehensive Content: Covering surgery, anesthesia, emergency triage, radiology, and patient care.
Real-Life Cases: Training is based on cases from an AAHA-accredited emergency hospital.
Team Roles: Tailored content for technicians (e.g., catheter placement), veterinarians (e.g., surgical techniques), and receptionists (e.g., client communication).
Convenient Learning: Allows for self-paced training, quick, on-the-fly, refreshers, and CE tracking.

Continuing education (CE) for veterinary professionals is mandatory and ongoing training required to maintain licensure. It helps staff keep pace with medical advancements, and enhances clinical skills. It includes, but is not limited to, RACE-approved courses, live webinars, conferences, and seminars on topics like clinical science, pharmacology, practice management, and much more. 🤓

Our goal is to provide the best care possible to our patients, while also educating our clients and staff. We want to keep our full support staff up to date on skills and information to better serve all of our furry friends. 🐾💙🐾
