“I began working with Kelly Jo Underdahl more than a decade ago. Until then, my workouts had focused on cardio. But with a career shift from full-time to consulting work and a more flexible schedule, I wanted to do more. Specifically, I wanted to incorporate strength training and flexibility into my routine – a must for all “mature” women. Kelly Jo led me to the Pilates reformer. In the ensuing years she has trained me one-on-one on the reformer twice a week. I have also taken her reformer classes. Here are just a few things I appreciate about Kelly Jo:

• She is extremely knowledgeable about Pilates and how to maximize workouts using the reformer. One-on-ones are designed to safely challenge clients. Similarly, she always offers suggested accommodations in classes if a participant is unable to execute a specific move.
• She is thorough in her instruction and focuses on form.
• She uses the multiple tools available to keep workouts fresh and interesting.
• She listens and welcomes feedback.
• She is continually upbeat and makes working out both fun and rewarding.

I recently followed Kelly Jo to Summit, and I’m loving the new environment. The location is great, and the vibe is chill and conducive to focusing without the distractions many gyms present. I also appreciate all the reformer tools available. It’s definitely added a welcome new component to my routine!”

As we near the end of the snake 🐍 year, I thought I’d break down the set up for performing this exercise on the box, and how to progress snake by stepping up on to the foot-bar.

The year of the snake ends on 2/16 - allow yourself to shed those layers that are holding you back from achieving what you want and desire over the next few weeks. I am looking forward to moving into the year of the horse 🐎 on 2/17. Let’s spring into action and move forward!

Short spine massage on the reformer: can be taught a couple different ways pending on clients core strength and mobility in spine.
➡️1st way: hinging at hips, then begin to peel back up and off of the carriage
➡️2nd way: requires more core strength to lift up as one unit vs hinging at hip and then peeling and lifting

Give both ways a try and see what version you like better?!

Meet Megan 👋

I’m still fairly new to my Pilates journey, about 4–5 months in, but I absolutely love it. The classes keep me accountable, and this is the first time in a long time that I’ve been truly consistent with working out. I’m so proud of myself for that. The instructors are truly amazing and incredibly supportive, especially for someone who is still getting the hang of Pilates. I have always felt safe, encouraged, and supported in every class.

Pilates has taught me how to challenge my body in ways I never thought possible. I can see and feel the progress, and I’ve even become more conscious of my posture in my everyday life. I’m excited to see where I’ll be a year from now. Out of all the classes, Circuit Pilates is my favorite! It always brings a new challenge. After every class, I leave feeling happy, proud, extremely good… and definitely physically tired in the best way.

If you’re on the fence about trying Pilates, just do it. You won’t regret it.”

Learning how to properly perform leg circles will improve your core and allow you to gain the strength you are looking for. As instructors, it is common that we see arching of the back, and lack of core connection. When this happens we see circles that aren’t smooth and connected. We will teach you how to move from your powerhouse!
