O no…we did not eat the bananas quick enough and now they are super ripe!!! 🍌

No Problem…Let’s make banana bread!

These were my exact thoughts this morning.

Now there is fresh banana bread to enjoy!

How can we make a baked good like banana bread more nutritious?

Here are a few simple ways…
1. Use coconut sugar instead of cane sugar. Coconut sugar has a low glycemic index and will not spike blood sugar. Use less sugar… I can most of the time reduce the sugar by a 1/4 for most recipes.

2. Use organic fresh flours. I prefer an ancient grain flour like Einkorn. It substitutes well 1:1 if recipe calls for all purpose. Einkorn is easy to digest.

3. Add some digestive spices…cinnamon, ginger, cardamom go well with many baked goods.

What are you baking up this week? If you try any of these tips I would love to hear how it turned out. 😃

Banana bread recipe:
Mix wet ingredients in bowl:
3 ripe bananas mashed
2 organic eggs
1/2 cup ghee melted
1tsp vanilla
Add dry ingredients to wet and combine
1/2 tsp sea salt
1.5 cups Einkorn flour
1tsp baking soda
Optional: chocolate chips and walnuts

Pour batter into greased bread loaf and bake at 350F for 40-45min

Happy Winter Solstice! 🕯️
Happy Holidays! 🎄✨☃️

During the Winter Solstice our earth’s North Pole has its farthest tilt away from the sun. This makes today the longest night and shortest day. I am excited that as we move forward we will begin to have more daylight! ☀️

Today I wanted to share with you a few tips to help keep the body feeling good during this holiday season.

Tip #1: Pause before you eat and ask your body what it wants. You may be surprised that you want the fruit bowl instead of the cookies.

Tip #2: Eat your normal meals throughout the day. This will keep you from overeating and keep your metabolism active.

Tip # 3: Sub whole wheat pastry flour, spelt, einkorn, other ancient grains in place of all purpose flour.

Tip #4: Sub all natural sweeteners like honey, maple syrup, coconut sugar in place of processed white sugar in your baked goods.

Tip #5: Have fresh fruits and veggies available to snack on.

Tip #6: Prepare a few more veggie based dishes for the dinner table. Salads seem to be forgotten but are a great dish to include and can really brighten up the table.

Tip #7: Stay hydrated. We consume less and feel more full when we drink our water and stay hydrated. Lemons are a yummy addition and are helpful for cleansing the body.

Tip #8: Let yourself enjoy those foods you look forward to during the Holiday. Just remember everything in moderation. Do not deprive yourself of that piece of pie.

Tip #9: Brew up and sip on some warm teas that will support your digestive system. One of my favorites is Cumin, Coriander, Fennel tea (1/2tsp of each herb) or warming ginger.

Tip #10: Take your time eating. Enjoy the meal with your friends and family. This can boost that Merry feeling inside as you truly take in the joy of this time of year. Did you know it takes your brain about 20 min to recognize were full?

Tip #11: Keep your body moving. Enjoy a nice walk, continue your workout routine, do some yoga. This decreases our stress, improves our mood and burns those extra calories.

We love our greens!!!🥬

In the winter time eating a mixture of greens is one way I make sure I am getting minerals and vitamins from fresh food.

They are staples at the wintertime farm market stands.

We can easily digest and absorb the most nutrients from our greens when gently cooked.

3 Yummy ways to enjoy your greens!

✔️Chop up some greens and add them into a soup

✔️Green salad: Sauté your greens, add some roasted veggies and quinoa for a nice salad

✔️Green Pesto: Sauté some kale and arugula, add some roasted walnuts, a little salt, olive oil and lime juice for a yummy green pesto

🌺Holistic support for the Sacred Postpartum window!

I believe the postpartum window is a sacred time for mother, baby and the entire family.

It’s a time of deep grounding, a soft return to the body, the heart, and a new rhythm of life. In these early weeks, a new mother is born and so is a new family.

This season isn’t just about recovery. It’s about welcoming the mother into her next becoming, renewal, nourishment, deep rest, and nurturing the bonds of the entire family.

As a postpartum doula, I offer in-home care that nourishes the whole household. With warm meals, body therapies, gentle guidance, and steady presence, I support this sacred transition so that everyone can settle into connection, rest, and love.

This work isn’t just something I do, it’s something I deeply believe in. Every mother deserves to be supported.

If you or someone you know is considering postpartum support, I’d love to connect.

Reach out with any questions—I’m happy to chat and see if we’re a good fit.
