When your appetite is suppressed, which can happen when you are on weight loss drugs, eating can start to feel confusing or stressful - especially if you’re in eating disorder recovery or supporting someone who is.

Medications that suppress appetite can make it harder to recognize your body’s needs, increase anxiety around meals, or create pressure to eat less than your body actually requires.

I wrote an article that offers a recovery-first perspective on navigating low appetite, recognizing when it may be time to pause and seek support, along with finding gentle, practical ways to stay nourished without guilt or fear.

Mixed messages in the new national dietary guidelines can leave people unsure of what to trust. Without clear explanations, many turn to rigid interpretations, extreme diets, or online misinformation.

Clear, contextual guidance helps people make balanced choices instead of swinging between “good” and “bad” food rules.

Side effects like low appetite or Gut health issues when taking GLP-1s, can make large or heavy meals feel overwhelming.

Prioritizing foods that are easier to digest, such as smoothies, soups, yogurt, oatmeal, eggs or tofu, and tender vegetables, allows you to meet your body’s needs without increasing discomfort.

A question we get asked frequently by our clients is: What is my ideal weight? Rebecca Stetzer, one of the dietitians at Erica Leon & Associates, who specializes in working with families and individuals, addresses this very topic in a recent article.

Rebecca discusses the concept of biologically appropriate weight (BAW), which goes beyond outdated Body Mass Index (BMI) charts and societal standards. She explains that BAW considers genetics, normal physical and psychological functioning, and the absence of disordered eating behaviors.

Understanding and achieving your BAW can lead to better physical health, mental well-being, and a healthier relationship with food and your body.

Insurance coverage for eating disorder nutrition therapy is complicated, and many claim denials are fixable.

This article explains what “not medically necessary” really means, why eating disorder treatment is processed under medical (not preventive) benefits, when to request a network gap exception or single case agreement, and how to file an organized, strategic appeal.

Clarity reduces confusion. Documentation matters.
