That tight achy feeling you sometimes experience? Myofascial Release (MFR) can help! You’ll learn evidence-based MFR techniques you can use on your own to increase range of motion, help regulate pain, reduce stress, build body awareness, and improve muscle function.

The series includes:

- Introduction to fascia and how it affects our physical and mental well-being
- Benefits, contraindications and safety
- Fascia rolling techniques and methods

Classes will meet Fridays, May 8-June 12, 9:30-10:30.

Cost is $100 for the 6 weeks and registration is required. To register, DM me or email insideoutyoga@va.metrocast.net.

I’ll provide tennis balls for rolling, but if you have myofascial balls, rollers or other tools you’d like to bring, please do!

Fridays, March 6-April 10, 9:30-10:30 am at UUFR in White Stone

Alignment isn’t about perfection—it’s about awareness, strength, and sustainability. In this 6-week deep dive, we’ll slow things down, break poses apart, and rebuild them with clarity and confidence.

Each week, we’ll explore a different pose family to help you move smarter, feel stronger, and practice more safely:

Week 1: Neutral Spine Foundations
Build awareness of spinal alignment, core engagement, and postural strength — the blueprint for every practice.

Week 2: Warrior II Family
Refine your stance, stabilize your hips, and find power with precision in poses like Warrior II, Triangle, Half Moon and more.

Week 3: Warrior I Family
Unlock hip alignment, balance strength and mobility, and bring integrity to poses like Warrior I, Warrior 3, Pyramid and more.

Week 4: Twists
Learn how to rotate safely while supporting your lower back.

Week 5: Forward Bends
Hinge with intention, protect your hamstrings, and discover depth without strain.

Week 6: Backbends
Create length before depth, activate intelligently, and build confidence in heart-opening poses.

Whether you’re newer to yoga or looking to refine years of practice, this series will help you understand the why behind the shapes—not just the how.

I sprained my foot pretty badly last Thursday evening walking my friend’s dog in the dark. Follow-up x-rays at VCU yesterday indicate a Lisfranc injury which might require surgery. I’ll know more after the cast comes off in 6 weeks. I plan to continue teaching in White Stone and Reedville but will be taking a break from the Y. My mantra, as always, is “accept and move forward.”
