Not all headaches are the same.
Sometimes the lymphatic system may play a role.

The lymphatic vessels in the head, neck, and brain help move fluid and clear waste products from surrounding tissues. This system works closely with the brain’s cleansing network known as the glymphatic system, which helps circulate cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) through brain tissue to wash away metabolic waste and inflammatory molecules.

When this drainage system becomes sluggish, fluid and waste may linger longer than they should. This can contribute to pressure, inflammation, and discomfort in the head and neck, and in some cases may be associated with headaches.

Some symptoms that can appear alongside lymphatic congestion include:

• Brain fog — mental fatigue or sluggish thinking
• Neck stiffness — tight tissues that may limit fluid movement
• Sinus congestion — pressure or recurring sinus headaches

The glymphatic system (aka the brain washing system) also works most efficiently during deep sleep, which is one reason rest is so important for brain and lymphatic health.

Movement, hydration, deep breathing, and Manual Lymphatic Drainage can help encourage healthy fluid movement in the head and neck.

A quiet system — but an important one for helping the body stay clear, balanced, and comfortable. 🌿

Vibration plates: lymphatic miracle or too much stimulation?

Here’s how I explain it to my clients.

Based on the physiology of the lymphatic system, gentle vibration can be helpful. The lymphatic system doesn’t have a central pump like the heart—it relies on muscle movement, breathing, and body motion to help move lymph fluid through the body.

A vibration plate may support this movement by creating gentle muscular contractions and circulation.

However, when it comes to the lymphatic system, less is always more.

If you decide to try a vibration plate:
• Start on the lowest setting
• Keep sessions short
• Pay attention to how your body responds

Going too intense or too long can actually create additional inflammation, which adds to the very congestion you’re trying to move out. Think gentle stimulation, not aggressive shaking.

With lymphatic work, the goal is always the same:
Encourage flow—don’t force it.

That dreaded twisted ankle… 😩

After an injury, the body sends fluid, proteins, and inflammatory cells to the area to help with healing—but when it lingers, it can leave your ankle feeling stiff, heavy, and “stuck.”

This is where Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) comes in 👇

MLD uses gentle, rhythmic techniques to:

• Move excess fluid out of the area
• Clear protein buildup
• Reduce pressure + improve mobility
• Support your body’s natural healing process

The goal isn't to force anything—just to help your lymphatic system do its job more efficiently.

Less congestion, more flow, better recovery. ✨

One of the easiest ways to support your lymphatic system takes less than a minute — and you’re already doing it!

Deep abdominal breathing plays a powerful role in supporting lymphatic flow.

Unlike the cardiovascular system, the lymphatic system relies on movement, muscle activity, and pressure changes to move fluid through the body.

When you take a slow, deep breath and allow your diaphragm to expand, gentle pressure changes occur in the abdomen and chest. These shifts help guide lymph fluid upward toward the heart through the body’s main drainage pathway.

Think of deep breathing as a natural pump for the lymphatic system.

Each breath softly massages deep abdominal lymph structures and helps move fluid through areas where congestion can sometimes occur. This is especially important because lymph from the lower body must travel through the abdominal lymph nodes before returning to the bloodstream.

Sometimes the simplest tools are the most powerful — even a few slow, mindful breaths can help support the body’s natural drainage pathways.

A few cool things about your lymphatic system…

✨ It’s a one-way street.

Lymph fluid moves upward and inward toward the heart — no pump involved. Just your breath, muscle movement, and tiny vessel contractions helping guide the flow.

✨ You have a LOT of lymph nodes.

About 600–800 throughout your body, and nearly half of them are in your head and neck.

✨ They’re like tiny security checkpoints.

Every drop of lymph fluid passes through these nodes, where debris, waste, and unwanted invaders get filtered out before the fluid rejoins your bloodstream.

Your lymphatic system works quietly behind the scenes every day to protect, cleanse, and keep things in balance.

Movement helps.
Deep breathing helps.
And gentle Manual Lymphatic Drainage can help encourage that natural flow when it needs a little extra support.

An incredible system — often overlooked, always working. 🌿

May those who love you love you,
And those who don’t love you,
May god turn their hearts.
And if he doesn’t turn their hearts,
May he turn their ankles so you’ll know them by their limping.
