My baby girl turns 4 tomorrow morning. I remember her birth like it was yesterday. The night before I was completely in denial I could be in early labor. I drove my family to watch my husband’s band play a gig at a local winery. My contractions woke me from my sleep that night and I brought her into the world at home, just like I had dreamed. She was finally here. We instantly fell in love. Every little squeak and wiggle we fell harder. It’s hard to put into words what it’s like to watch your heart walk around outside your body, but she is it. She makes us laugh all the time, questions everything and has the biggest heart just like her dad. I am so lucky to be her mama and to get to learn from her. 🥹🤍✨

Happy 1st birthday Murphy Layne! 🧁🩵 I can’t believe this sweet chunk came into the world one year ago today. His arrival was fast and furious and one I’ll never forget - he’s brought so much love and smiles and sweetness ever since. Being trusted by my sister to support her and photograph her births and to witness her becoming has been one of my greatest joys. Janessa, you are an incredible mom. You are strong and loving. Your boys are a reflection of you and I’m so proud to be their auntie!

Happy birthday to our favorite auntie Kell 💞 having her by my side to support me last year during Mozie’s birth and postpartum was such a blessing. She loves her nieces so hard and I’m forever grateful for her friendship. She’s kind and funny and hardworking. If you’re ever in Portland - go treat yourself to a hair service from her. She goes above and beyond for her clients and I’m super proud of her. Love you 5ever sister! 🎈🎂 💖

Did you know your uterus continues to contract after you give birth?

Your body knows to do this in order to protect and minimize bleeding from the wound where your placenta came off. If you are actively bleeding or at risk of hemorrhaging, fundal massage is a very helpful intervention that is used to help the uterus to contract and to reduce bleeding. As you can clearly see in this image, it can be quite uncomfortable. I love how alert and peaceful this sweet baby girl was, just happy to finally be in her mama's arms 💕

I was honored tonight to be recognized as one of the Flathead’s top 20 under 40 for my work as a birth doula, photographer and as the executive director of the 🤍 This past year has been a whirlwind of raising babies and finding my edge when it comes to growing my own business and building community. I was so surprised and grateful to be apart of this year’s incredible group of leaders.
