I believe we are meant to be healthy and whole.

I also believe that discomfort, pain, and illness are a natural part of the human experience.

The question is, how do you view discomfort, pain, and illness?

Do you resist them and view them as an enemy to be fought, or do you view them as messengers and teachers, showing you what needs to be tended to and inviting you to change and grow into the person you are meant to be? I believe they can help us integrate ALL the parts of ourselves so that we can become more and more WHOLE.

This is why addressing the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of health in an integrated way is so important. To become healthy, we must move toward wholeness, and to move toward wholeness, we must address all the dimensions of health in an integrated, heart-centered way.

What are some of the simple things people can do to feel better quickly? Put another way, what is the low hanging fruit they can reach for?

It varies from person to person, but it very often starts with building up their energy and reserves. Most people have been running in stress mode so long that they are dysregulated and depleted.

If I had to name my top 5 SIMPLE steps for better health, they would be:

💧Hydrate properly (Sip water throughout the day and consider adding Celtic Sea salt, trace minerals, or electrolytes without artificial flavors, colors, or sweeteners)
🌬️Learn to breathe well (Slow, diaphragmatic breaths!)
🧘‍♀️Engage in gentle, restorative movement (Restorative yoga, fascial stretching)
☀️Spend time out in nature and get adequate sunlight (Early in the day if possible!)
🛌Slow down and learn what it means to rest (Learn to say NO and carve out down-time)

There is a lot of lip service around finding "root causes" in the health industry. But here's the problem. Most practitioners don't go far enough or ask enough good questions to get down to the ultimate WHY or ROOT of people's health issues.

It's not enough to say someone has a nutritional deficiency or that their cortisol levels are out of whack.

We need to go further and ask WHY? WHY are their vitamin and mineral levels out of balance? WHY is their cortisol slope backwards? What are the stressors in their life that are causing them to be so depleted?

More often than not, there is a long-term source of stress in their life or a traumatic event that set things in motion. Unless we address the underlying stress and help people work through the underlying mental and emotional aspects at play, we are just trying to fill a leaky bucket without plugging the holes.

Yes, people may need some supplementation, but we must work at the same time to plug the holes and fix the leaks so the bucket can actually be filled, and the body can repair itself on a deeper level.

What are the stories you tell yourself about your health?

Do you think your health is mostly the result of your genetic makeup? Do you think you're just prone to getting sick? Do you think you're sensitive or allergic to everything?

The narratives we hold and tell ourselves impact our health. The beliefs and thoughts we allow to run on repeat can make the difference between healing and staying stuck.

It's not the only factor, but it is most definitely an important one!

Start noticing what you think and say about your body. What are the energies and emotions you direct toward yourself?

Moving into a space of kindness and compassion for your body and cultivating a heart and mind open to hope and the possibility of healing is one of the best things you can do for your health!
