Healing takes courage. But not in the way you might think. It’s not about “fighting” a disease or “soldiering through.” It’s about allowing yourself to see, feel, and express the deep things of the heart.
Brene Brown has this to say about courage, and I think it’s helpful.
“The root of the word courage is cor, the Latin word for heart. In one of its earliest forms, the word courage had a very different definition than it does today. Courage originally meant "To speak one's mind by telling all one's heart."
But what does this have to do with healing? Well, everything.
Almost all chronic diseases are manifestations of a person’s mental, emotional, and spiritual state on some level. Symptoms are like mirrors, reflecting a person’s internal landscape.
Addressing these mental, emotional, and spiritual elements takes courage - a willingness to voyage deep into the heart and face the dark, broken, and forgotten parts of oneself. This deep, inner work is never easy.
It takes an absolute, heart-centered commitment. It requires letting go of the intellectual, head-centered way of being that is prevalent in Western culture so that you can become present in and fully connected to your heart, soul, mind, and body. And that takes courage.
The ONLY thing that will allow you to access true and lasting healing is connection. Connection to the infinite, eternal, unchangeable, unfailing Love that brought you into being, coupled with the ability to fully connect to your own heart, soul, mind, and body.
And that takes courage. The ability to connect, sense, feel, communicate, and respond from the heart.
Connection comes FIRST! Once you have a strong connection, a plan or pathway can be developed and then aligned, heart-centered action can be taken that will manifest as a transformation in your health.
Are you ready to work on your health in a heart-centered way?
